Prime Minister admits to deceit
Feb 27th, 2011 at 2:23pm

Quote:
Yes, I vowed no carbon tax - Julia Gillard

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard has admitted she promised there would be no carbon tax during the election and said circumstances had changed.

She qualified her comments made a week before the August 2010 poll, arguing her Government had wanted to legislate for an emissions trading scheme.

"Yes, I did say that and circumstances have changed," Ms Gillard told Channel 9 today.

A big thank you to Prime Minister Gillard for continuing the fine tradition of politicians who can't deal with the truth.

What a big yawn..can someone post a list of PM's and Premiers that havent lied at election time.
The good thing about this lie is it be the beginning of this country cutting back carbon emissions and hopefully take us off the top 10 list of the worlds worst polluters.
It may even be the beginning of saving human existence on this planet..but what the heck..dirt cheap electricity is much more important, bugga the grandkids  Tongue

Gillard did not lie, she said, and I quote..."There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead"

And given the Greens are leading the country by proxy, this means Gillard has told the truth.

So Hard Righters are more offended at being lied to by Gillard, than being Lied to By Abbott.

Is this correct?

The more I read of ye, the more you convince me you are mellie.

The relevant circumstances changed overnight, so to speak, and if you want to be pedantic, for as long as it took to work out that neither the ALP or the LNP had won a majority so as to govern as they chose and on the policies they ran on, including in the case of the ALP, no carbon tax.

But, that was not to be.  Neither party had the numbers, and that was the fundamental change.

Stop ignoring that, wot?

It's not technically a lie because she is not leading the labor party.

You need to learn the difference between a core promise and a non core promise.

It's ok to break non-core promises.
