Quote:I would think it is far better to die with a clear conscience knowing you have put things right with God and with man.
It would depend on your perspective of events.
What sits right with you?
You seem awfully defensive and unable to discuss the possibility that ancient "stories" told a tale of truth because literature was widely unavailable, almost non-existent in fact.
To me, in an illiterate world, I would think that stories concerning the movement of the planets would have been the most logical method of passing on such important information.
With a little applied empathy, it is easily realised that story-telling was then the most effective method of passing on information.
IMO, I think that many truths have been covered in order for "the bible" to be seen as "wholly" truth. I would never have a clear conscience without at least questioning the possibility that so many have been murdered in order for that lie to exist.
I'm not too comfortable to discount the hard and honest work of others who have been murdered in aparrent vain. IMO, they worked and studied very hard to tell a tale of seasonal events; when to sow and when to harvest.
Instead, you believe in a fictional character who walks on water, performs miracles and rises into the sky - that fictional character clears your conscience....go figure
