I am not sure I will ever understand how people can hold Leftwing views.

I mean for me, I don't necessarily feel I need class as Left or Right but merely the values I hold strong tend to be represented well by Tony Abbott.

I want -

A tax policy which encourages and rewards rather than penalises.

A policy which encourages personal responsibility - i/e look after yourself in healthcare and education and not rely on the state to provide.

Self responsibility - superannuation. People should be rewarded for saving for their own retirement and not expect the state to hand out to them.

Employment - Free worklaws which encourage greater degree of interaction between employer and employee and less union interference. Thus helping productivity and a more fluid workforce responding to changes in the marketplace.

Border Control and Population - Encourage skilled workers into Australia from suitable parts of the world where we can bridge the skills gap.
Stop problem people from coming in who do nothing but bring with them problems and are a liability.

Defence - Proactive engagement with key natural allies like the UK and US to make the world a safer place.

Climate change - Don't run a two tier system where we hinder our economic well-being with punitive measures but allow the world's worst polluters China and India a free run simply because they are later developers. Everyone should be treated the same.


None of these put me 'right' or 'left' but merely a sensible set of views.
