Independents must back pensioner issues

A pensioner group has called on the three independents set to decide the next federal government to consider dental care, pharmaceutical benefits and aged care in their negotiations.

Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association of NSW (CPSA) policy coordinator Charmaine Crowe said elderly people want dental put under Medicare, no cuts to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), benefits that keep up with the cost of living and reform of aged care.

"CPSA calls on the independents Rob Oakeshott, Tony Windsor, and Bob Katter to make these key issues when they carry out their negotiations with Labor and the Coalition," she said in a statement.

Ms Crowe said Mr Oakeshoot and Mr Windsor supported dental care under Medicare, as did the Greens.

The next federal government is still to be determined after Saturday's election resulted in a hung parliament.

Lets hope with all that green power in government, they will do something about the appalling money the aged, disabled and unemployed are expected to live on. It is time to lobby the independents and greens for a better go, well almost time, better let them settle in for a minute, but don't let them get too comfy or they'll do what Maxine McKew did.....nothing.
