Look I think we should leave this suicide topic aside for now, you have all had your say, and really it has no bearing on this election.

We can disagree with each others political choices without the need to wallow in other people's past misfortunes.

Thanks.

Talk to skip mate, he's the only one that peddled it about a dozen times on this board, even put it in his opening post of a thread yesterday.

Its sad when someone like Skip seems to think someones mental health is there for his politcal agenda.

I was pointing out that Brogden blames the right wing of the Liberal party for what happened, when you get past third grade reading verge you might comprehend.
As I've said in other posts about Brogden he was the best leader the Libs have ever had in this state, pity the right wing of his party treated him so bad.

He blames the right wing for him getting booted, nothing about blaming them for his attempted sucide.

I for one, hope Labor do NOT get a second term...

I've voted Labor my entire life.....but the stuff ups involved in the various 'schemes' coupled with the reviving of the ETS tempts me (or even requires me) to vote Liberal....THIS time around..

The 'possibility' of the return of WorkNoChoices(by the Liberals) scares me a whole lot less than certainty of an ETS...

Yes, I can see why you would say that Gizmo, although I must say it amazes me that a chap of your obvious intelligence can be so taken in by the climate change denialists, it always leaves me flabbergasted just how they manage to con so many normally smart people into accepting ludicrous conspiracy theories and idiotic technobabble.

The problem is that most people of 'obvious intelligence' are the ones who don't fall for the AGW story....
The 'idiotic technobabble' is mostly on the AGW side.....

Most intelligent people can see and understand the massive holes in the AGW concept...
For myself, I'm old enough to remember when the 'scare' was the next Ice Age, and back when the various 'anti-technology' groups first started up...

The biggest give-away is that the ONLY 'bad' chemical, out of the 6 or more 'Greenhouse Gases' is also the only one that is absolutely necessary for all life on Earth and 'just happens' to be the only one that is produced by ALL industrial processes...

Anyone with half a brain, who's seen 'An Inconvienent Truth', would have to come down on the sceptic side of the debate......Let's face it, Al Gore is possibly the best possible proof that AGW is bullshit.....

Tack on the numerous errors (and hippy rhetoric) spewed out by the IPCC and the CRU and the only logical conclusion possible is that the whole AGW/Global Warming story is a complete beat-up, invented by Luddites.....

Here is a reason as to why Young Liberals should vote Labor

Abbott to freeze government recruitment, Ryan Jon, Upstart
This policy could be offputting to current students, as young Australians voting Liberal could potentially be voting themselves out of future career opportunities.

So do you disagree with Abbott putting a freeze on public service jobs with the exception of service staff?

I do not think much of those Liberal leaders you mentioned Skippy.
Menzies lied to the Parliament to get us into Vietnam, as well as presiding over our previous big resource boom, and like Howard, totally ignored building infrastructure.

Holt was not terrible, but did nothing worthwhile in his time, Gorton was OK, and Fraser was shocking.
He has so much guilt over his mean spirited treatment of the less fortunate society whilst in power that he has been over compensating ever since, and has become an embarrassment to his former party because of that fact.

Longy brought up Labor's record, and the thing the Lib supporters either through ignorance, or dis-ingenuousness, always harp on about is their economic record.

Whitlam got dumped over the loans affair, when Fraser blocked supply.

The loans were to build twin pipelines from the north west cape, across the top of Australia, and down the whole Eastern seaboard.
They would have supplied clean, cheap Natural gas, and clean abundant water.
If Labor had not have been dumped, we would as a country be in a far better environmental, and economic state, than we are now.

It was a brilliant and bold, Nation Building idea, something that no Liberal government has ever offered.

The potential for clean cheap power to fuel industry was about turning Australia from a quarry, into an industrial economy, but the Libs today are just as wedded to the idea of Australia as good for nothing but a quarry as they were all those years ago.
Old quarries become tips, and with Liberal leadership that is what they will make Australia.

The simple fact about the economic management issue is that we are part of the world economy, and the only really successful action to isolate ourselves from the effects of global economic turmoils was the recent action of this government.
Previous interest rate moves, and unemployment and inflation issues were all reflections of what was happening in the wider world, and unless the Libs claim that changing parties in Australia sparks world financial crises, then the issues of the past can not be blamed upon Labor, no more than the Libs can take credit for the boom in China which sparked the resource boom.

Oh, that is right, they do take credit for that.
Well that is dishonest isn't it?
Do you think they may be being dishonest about the other economic issues as well?

That is an incredibly simplistic view of the Whitlam years. His record was one of chronic unrelenting inompetence. the loans affair was just one of them. and why hasnt the 16 years of labor govt done it since? could it be there were more issues involved than just 'a good idea'?

The simple fact about the economic management issue is that we are part of the world economy.

So let me get this right... our economic circumstances are dictated by oversease? and this is only different under labor - like when our economy stood tall as others fell over? we will always be affected by overseas conditions. That is a given. but by how much is a matter that is mostly under our control. At least be consistent.

Mozz has asked you stop it,  if you like you can PM me, I've got heaps more from where that came from.
I was a little kind to you to infer that you had achieved third class reading standards.

Considering the Libs are spending lavishly and have no real savings outlined you just know they will increase the GST to not 15 but 20%.

That should take up destroying the economy from where the RBA left off.

Fortunately, the Australian people will decide for themselves if they want to give Labor another crack at squandering our economy.

Now, with respects to the "real Julia Gillard" coming out, I wonder how all those she appealed to before will feel about "Julia the fake" leaving the building?

This is a PM who appears to change her personality like her hair style.

Not very reassuring or now is it.

Australians want a stable and balanced government, not some twit re-discovering herself every other day.

I think she's been attending too many of those "self discovery"seminars/workshops, sigh!~

She advises that she well be going out there and "getting on the substance".

Perhaps she should consult her health care professional first?
