||And your point? I vote GREEN not Labor, if the Libs had a liberal leader like the ones i've mentioned I would preference them, but seeing as though they have the most extreme right wing neo con to ever stand for office as their leader, they can get stuffed I will preferece Labor.
I dont hate the Liberal party, I hate the extreme neo con leading it.||

they are the kinds of silly statements that undermine your credibility. Abbott is right-wing but no where near EXTREME. look to the LDP for that kind of position. being slight (at best) right of Gillard means nothing since her policy positions are also right-wing. can you really identify a policy of SUBSTANCE that is different between gillard and abbott? I cant. and by substance I mean more than the details. So here is a challenge. find a policy of substance that is different between the two and I mean POLICY not opinions or hearsay.

bet you cant.

Im not charmed by either. But i wasnt by Howard either yet I supported him totally. I vote for someone who can do the job and do it better than the other clown. 'charm' has nothing to do with it. Charisma has nothing to do with it. Oratorical ability likewise has nothing to do with it. it is purely about ABILITY to do the job every day beneath the radar and have beneifical outcomes for the country.

Perhaps this ought to come under a separate topic titled: Honest reflections on BOTH leaders"

.. but both leaders are boring me shitless!!!!

They look wrong, they talk wrong, they walk wrong, they laugh wrong .. and they're all 2nd rate predictable BS rhetoric driven puppets.

No oratory flair or charisma to be seen anywhere. Surely both parties could have pushed forward better candidates???

Surely???

sighs ..

Could someone please wake me up when this pre scripted amateur and cringeworthy rerun is all over?

Abbott is a member of the NSW right, a faction controlled by the extreme bible bashing neo cons, he is their puppet.
The same faction that pushed John Brogden to attempt suicide and did a hatchet job on Turnbull.
Abbott is a  neo con,and if you support him so are you, but no surprises there, you dont even want Australians to have a choice, you just want a one party state ruled by the not so Liberals.

Now, where is yout list of 23 seats you reckon Labor will lose? I'm interested, they would have had to do polls in every seat to know that, where are they?

I do not think much of those Liberal leaders you mentioned Skippy.
Menzies lied to the Parliament to get us into Vietnam, as well as presiding over our previous big resource boom, and like Howard, totally ignored building infrastructure.

Holt was not terrible, but did nothing worthwhile in his time, Gorton was OK, and Fraser was shocking.
He has so much guilt over his mean spirited treatment of the less fortunate society whilst in power that he has been over compensating ever since, and has become an embarrassment to his former party because of that fact.

Longy brought up Labor's record, and the thing the Lib supporters either through ignorance, or dis-ingenuousness, always harp on about is their economic record.

Whitlam got dumped over the loans affair, when Fraser blocked supply.

The loans were to build twin pipelines from the north west cape, across the top of Australia, and down the whole Eastern seaboard.
They would have supplied clean, cheap Natural gas, and clean abundant water.
If Labor had not have been dumped, we would as a country be in a far better environmental, and economic state, than we are now.

It was a brilliant and bold, Nation Building idea, something that no Liberal government has ever offered.

The potential for clean cheap power to fuel industry was about turning Australia from a quarry, into an industrial economy, but the Libs today are just as wedded to the idea of Australia as good for nothing but a quarry as they were all those years ago.
Old quarries become tips, and with Liberal leadership that is what they will make Australia.

The simple fact about the economic management issue is that we are part of the world economy, and the only really successful action to isolate ourselves from the effects of global economic turmoils was the recent action of this government.
Previous interest rate moves, and unemployment and inflation issues were all reflections of what was happening in the wider world, and unless the Libs claim that changing parties in Australia sparks world financial crises, then the issues of the past can not be blamed upon Labor, no more than the Libs can take credit for the boom in China which sparked the resource boom.

Oh, that is right, they do take credit for that.
Well that is dishonest isn't it?
Do you think they may be being dishonest about the other economic issues as well?

Skippy, what ARE you putting in your Milo.

John Brogden was not driven to a suicide attempt by anything OTHER than his ongoing DEPRESSION -  he stated that publicly on the Insight program a week or two ago.

Turnbull did his OWN hatchett job by crossong the floor to Labor over a policy that everyone KNEW was unpopular with the electorate.

Abbott is no more a Bible Basher that Kevin Rudd,(or NSW Kristina Keneally)  in fact I've never seen Abbott do a door stop interview outside a church as both Rudd and Keneally have done.

Try to keep to the facts skippy, or lay off that doctored Milo.

I dont think they were great leaders mozz, though I liked Gorton, but thats not my point, my point is that they were liberals, not extreme rights like Abbott.

Thats not what John Brogden says at all, and just for you I have his own quotes here, he blames the same NSW far right neo cons who now control Abbott, oh dear, looks like you've been on something stronger than milo old chum.

Alex Hawke … denies dobbing on Mr Brogden.
Photo: Edwina Pickles
John Brogden resigned yesterday as NSW Liberal leader with a stinging attack on a member of his own party for trying to undermine him.

After weeks fending off rumours about his drunken antics by blaming the Labor Party for a "gutter campaign", Mr Brogden lashed out at the national president of the Young Liberals, Alex Hawke, who he claimed had told journalists the story.

"Alex Hawke has been named as pushing it," Mr Brogden said. He needs to take a long hard look at himself. It is pretty obvious that everybody in politics has people out to get them."

Mr Hawke, a member of the right faction, vented his dissatisfaction earlier this year with the liberal-leaning policies of the state party under Mr Brogden, who is from the left. But he issued a statement yesterday denying he had spoken to journalists about Mr Brogden's antics.

"I have not spoken to a single journalist, on or off the record, about this matter until now and I was not in attendance at the function where Mr Brogden committed these acts.

"To ascribe any role to me in this embarrassing episode is false and I reject it totally."

Mr Hawke is a staffer for the most prominent Christian right-wing Liberal MP, David Clarke, and has previously worked for federal right-wingers Ross Cameron and Helen Coonan. He and Mr Clarke have worked together to build a conservative religious network in the party and end the left's 15-year hold on the state party. They regard Mr Brogden as too socially liberal, particularly on issues such as republicanism, abortion, heroin injecting rooms and homosexuality.

Whitlam the big spender. . .surplus budgets. “Good economic manager” John Howard as Fraser’s Treasurer had biggest ever deficit, interest rates and unemployment: at least Rudd prevented high interest rates and high unemployment. Howard PM spent all the so-called surpluses racked up 2001-7, leaving us in huge deficit when the GFC hit.

Nope, Lib economic record nothing to write home about!
