No Greggy,
I knew all my scales - but
I was just a chord player and would learn a bit of melody
and the chords that went with it at the same time if I practiced enough.   

Nothing to boast about.   

I used the piano to prepare songs for singing purposes -
if a note was too high I would choose one 3 semitones down and usually it would still work.
Yeah - I cheated sometimes. 

Listened to some Dick in the Dyke music.
To me. He's the greatest all round entertainer of all time. He had everything.

I met him when young. Introduced by my father's work associate. We had lunch with him in Sydney. He gave me a cassette of his music and I never heard a more pristine recording of music quality on cassette than his.
Gee, now I'm wondering if I still have it somewhere?
