Divinyls - Boys In Town

I am through with hanging around
With all the boys in town
Now I want a man around
Get me out of here

I am a just red brassiere to all the boys in town
Put this bus in top gear get me out of here

I must have been desperate I must have been pretty low
I must have been desperate I must have been pretty low

I was always driving home all the boys in town
But they never telephoned get me out of here
I think they're pretty phony
You're not like the rest
You've heard of matrimony
They've all flunked the test

I must have been desperate I must of been pretty low
I must have been desperate I must have been pretty slow

Mondo Rock  - Come Said The Boy

It was a party night, it was the end of school
He's head was feelin' light, the first time
She seemed much older then, she had turned seventeen
And she knew some older men, the first time

Come said the boy, let's go down to the sand
Let's do what we wanna do, let me be a man for you
Oh-woh-woh-oh, oh-woh-woh-oh
Oh-woh-woh-oh, oh-woh-woh

And she said
Well I've been waitin' for a long time
And you've changed a lot
Up till now it's been the wrong time
To know whether to come here or not

Oh, now come with me boy, just take my hand
I'll let you see what you wanna see
Come on, be a man for me

Hoh-oh-oh, we've both been waitin' for a long time
We've both changed a lot
Up till now it seemed the wrong time
To know whether to come here or not

Oh, but come said the boy, let's go down on the sand
Let's do what we wanna do, let me be a man for you
Just say come with me boy, just take my hand
I'll let you see what you wanna see
Come on be my man for me
Oh-woh-woh-oh, oh-woh-woh-oh
Oh-woh-woh-oh, oh-woh-woh

It was a party night (oh-woh-woh-oh)
It was the end of school (oh-woh-woh-oh)
He's head was feelin' light (oh-woh-woh-oh)
It was the first time (oh-woh-woh-oh)
She seemed much older then (oh-woh-woh-oh)
She had turned seventeen (oh-woh-woh-oh)
'Cause she knew some older men (oh-woh-woh-oh)
For the first time (oh-woh-woh-oh)

Skyhooks - Living in the 70's

I feel a little crazy
I feel a little strange
Like I'm in a pay phone
Without any change
I feel a little edgy
I feel a little weird
I feel like a schoolboy
Who's grown a beard

I'm livin' in the 70's
Eatin' fake food under plastic trees
My face gets dirty just walkin' around
I need another pill to calm me down

I feel a bit nervous
I feel a bit mad
I feel like a good time that's never been had
I feel a bit fragile
I feel a bit low
Like I learned the right lines
But I'm on the wrong show

I'm livin' in the 70's
I feel like I lost my keys
Got the right day but I got the wrong week
And I get paid for just bein' a freak

I feel a little insane
I feel a bit dazed
My legs are shrinkin'
And the roof's been raised
I feel a little mixed up
I feel a little queer
I feel like a barman that can't drink a beeri

AC DC - IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP (IF YOU WANNA ROCK 'N' ROLL)

Ridin' down the highway
Goin' to a show
Stop in all the byways
Playin' rock 'n' roll
Gettin' robbed
Gettin' stoned
Gettin' beat up
Broken boned
Gettin' had
Gettin' took
I tell you folks
It's harder than it looks

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
If you think it's easy doin' one night stands
Try playin' in a rock roll band
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll

Hotel motel
Make you want to cry
Lady do the hard sell
Know the reason why
Gettin' old
Gettin' grey
Gettin' ripped off
Under-paid
Gettin' sold
Second hand
That's how it goes
Playin' in a band

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
If you want to be a star of stage and screen
Look out it's rough and mean

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll
But it's a long way
It's a long way, (you should've told me)
It's a long way, such a long wayii

Daddy Cool - Eagle Rock

Now listen,
Oh we're steppin' out
I'm gonna turn around,
Gonna turn around once and we'll do the Eagle Rock.
Oh momma!
Oh you're rocking well!
Hmm yeah you do it so well,
Well we do it so well when we do the Eagle Rock
Now momma,
Yeah you're rockin' fine!
Why don't you give me a sign?
Hmm just give me a sign and we'll do the Eagle Rock.
Hey Hey Hey, good old Eagle Rock's here to stay,
I'm just crazy 'bout the way we move,
Doin' the Eagle Rock.
Oh Oh Oh come on fast, you can come on slow
I'm just crazy 'bout the way we move,
Doin' the Eagle Rock.
Go momma!
Well you're rockin' fine!
Why don't you give me a sign?
Just gotta give me a sign and we'll do the Eagle Rock.
Oh baby!
Well I feel so free!
Hmm what you do to me!
What you do to me when we do the Eagle Rock.
Now listen,
More we're steppin' out.
Yeah, gonna turn around,
Gonna turn around once and we'll do the Eagle Rock.
Doin' the Eagle Rock.
Doin' the Eagle Rock.
Doin' the Eagle Rock

Icehouse - Hey Little Girl

When everything goes wrong, sometimes
It makes no sense, there once was a time
I should have known better then although
You may try, it won't come your way again

Hey little girl, where will you hide?
Who can you run to now?
Hey little girl, where will you go?
Who can you turn to now?

So why should I care if somebody let you down
That's nothing new, I know just what that can mean
Well, the way that they talk, the talk is all over town
And it's no surprise, little girls hurt sometimes

Hey, little girl

When everything goes wrong, sometimes it makes
No sense, hey, little girl, should have known better

Hey little girl, where will you hide?
Who can you run to now?
Hey little girl, where will you go?
Who can you turn to now?

Little River Band - Playing To Win

If you want me, come and get me,
You don't have a chance if you don't move now.
I'm not waiting, Any longer,
Know that I'm playing to win this time.
When you make your move,
I won't hesitate.
If you take too long,
You can be too late.
This time I'm playing to win.
If you want me, come and see me,
Don't wait around for another chance.
Make your mind up, make your play,
You should be playing to win this time.
When you make your move,
I won't hesitate.
You can take too long,
You can be too late.
This time I'm playing to win.
All those wasted years,
Didn't know, I was only a motion away.
I got what I wanted for me,
I didn't see it was not going to be there.
I was a fool.
This time I'm playing to win.
If you want me, come and get me,
You don't have a chance if you don't move now.
I'm not waiting, Any longer,
Know that I'm playing to win this time.
When you make your move,
I won't hesitate.
If you take too long,
You can be too late.
This time I'm playing to win.
When you make your move,
I won't hesitate.
If you take too long,
You can be too late.
This time I'm playing to win.
This time I'm playing to win
(You know that I've made up my mind)
This time I'm playing to win
(wohoaaahhhh)
This time I'm playing to win

Max Merritt & The Meteors- Slipping Away

Baby, I've been watching you
Watching everything you do
And I just can't help feeling
Someone else is stealing
You away from me

I see it written in your eyes
And you confirm it with your lies
Though the whip you weave can hold me
I would rather that you told me
Where you want to be

Ooh! slipping away from me
Ooh! slipping away from me
And it's breaking me in two
Watching you slipping away

Jon English - Turn the Page

On a long and lonesome highway,
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engines
Moanin' out it's one old song
You can think about the woman,
Or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wanderin',
The way they always do
When you're ridin' 16 hours,
And there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin',
You just wish the trip was through

Here I am, on the road again,
There I am, up on the stage
There I go, playin' star again,
There I go, turn the page

So you walk into this restaurant,
Uh strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you,
As you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you,
But you just want to explode
Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk,
Other times you can

All the same old clich's,
Is it woman, is it man
And you always seem outnumbered,
You don't dare make a stand
Make your stand

Ah But here I am, on the road again,
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, ah playin' star again,
There I go, turn the page
Woah

Out there in the spotlight,
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy,
You try and give away
As the sweat pours out your body,
Like the music that you play

Later in the evenin',
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers,
Ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette,
Rememberin' what she said

What she said

Yeah, and here I am,
On the road again,
There I am, up on that stage
Here I go, playin' star again,
There I go, turn the page
And there I go, turn that page

There I go, yeah, Here I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah, Here I go, yeah
Here I go-oh-o, There I go
And I'm gone

One, two, three, four!

If I were Britney's boyfriend
I'd be playing hard to get
She'd come around beggin' for me, but
I'd say, "No no, not yet."
Cos God has told me personally
That I should remain pure.
"Just love me, baby, for myself."
And more of that manure.

Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney Spear

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!
Oh my God! One, two, three, four!

Britney would go off her tree
At my refusal
"I'm Britney freakin' Spears,
Rejection's not that usual."
"I love you, darling, for yourself,"
I'd explain to little Miss
"It's your personality I like.
Not your body. Serious."

Thou Shalt Not Britney, Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney, Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney Spear

As far as a coy mistress goes
You'll like it more than she
When, upon her curt refusal
You whole-heartedly agree
Girls justly hate the lecher man
With sweating, hairy paw
But what happens when boy says no?
They hate that even more

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!

"Just like I told J-Lo," I'd say,
"It's not your fame and wealth,
It's not your perfect bod and face
It's you I want. Yourself.
Jesus wouldn't like us to
If he ever knew it"
"Stuff him," I'm sure she'd say
"Come on, babe, let's do it."

Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney
Thou Shalt Not Britney (Oh my God, oh my God)
Thou Shalt Not Britney (Oh my God, oh my God)
Thou Shalt Not Britney (Oh my God, oh my God) Spear

Goanna - Solid Rock

Out here nothin' changes, not in a hurry anyway
You feel the endlessness with the comin' of the light of day
We're talkin' about a chosen place
You wouldn't sell it in a marketplace, well
Well just a minute now

Standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Right down the line

Round about the dawn of time, when dreamin' all began
A croud of people came
Well they were looking for their promised land
Were running from the heart of darkness
Searching for the heart of light
Well it was their paradise

But they were standin' on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change were blowing cold that night
Oh

They were standin' on the shore one day, Saw the white sails in the sun
Wasn't long before they felt the sting, white man, white law, white gun
Don't tell me that it's justified, 'cause somewhere, someone lied
Yeah well someone lied, someone lied, genocide
Well someone lied, oh, ahh

And now you're standing on solid rock
Standing on a sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line

Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Oh-oh-oh no, no-oh

Redgum - I Was Only 19

Mum and Dad and Denny saw the passing out parade at Puckapunyal
It was a long march from cadets
The sixth battalion was the next to tour and it was me who drew the card
We did Canungra and Shoalwater before we left

And Townsville lined the footpaths as we marched down to the quay
This clipping from the paper shows us young and strong and clean
And there's me in me slouch hat with me SLR and greens
God help me - I was only nineteen

From Vung Tau riding Chinooks to the dust at Nui Dat
I'd been in and out of choppers now for months
And we made our tents a home, V.B. and pinups on the lockers
And an Agent Orange sunset through the scrub

And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep?
And night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16?
And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?
God help me - I was only nineteen

A four week operation, when each step can mean your last one on two legs
It was a war within yourself
But you wouldn't let your mates down 'til they had you dusted off
So you closed your eyes and thought about somethin' else

And then someone yelled out "Contact", and the bloke behind me swore
We hooked in there for hours, then a God almighty roar
And Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked a moon
God help me - he was goin' home in June

And I can still see Frankie, drinkin' tinnies in the Grand Hotel
On a thirty-six hour rec. leave in Vung Tau
And I can still hear Frankie, lying screaming in the jungle
'Til the morphine came and killed the bloody row

And the Anzac legends didn't mention mud and blood and tears
And the stories that my father told me never seemed quite real-
I caught some pieces in my back that I didn't even feel God help me - I was only nineteen

And can you tell me doctor why I still can't get to sleep? And why the channel seven chopper chills me to my feet? And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means? God help me - I was only nineteen

(Australia's Led Zepplin)

Cold Chisel - Khe Sanh

I left my heart to the sappers round Khe Sanh
And my soul was sold with my cigarettes to the blackmarket man
I've had the Vietnam cold turkey
From the ocean to the Silver City
And it's only other vets could understand
About the long forgotten dockside guarantees
How there were no V-day heroes in 1973
How we sailed into Sydney Harbour
I saw an old friend but couldn't kiss her
And she was lined, and I was home to a lucky land
She was like so many more from that time on
Their lives were all so empty, until they found their chosen one
And their legs were often open
But their minds were always closed
And their hearts were held in fast suburban chains
And the legal pads were yellow, hours long, paypacket lean
And the telex writers clattered where the gunships once had been
But the car parks made me jumpy
And I never stopped the dreams
Or the growing need for speed and novacaine
So I worked across the country from end to end
Tried to find a place to settle down,
Where my mixed up life could mend
Held a job on an oil-rig
Flying choppers when I could
But the nightlife nearly drove me round the bend
And I've travelled round the world from year to year
And each one found me aimless, one more year the worse for wear
And I've been back to South East Asia
You know the answer sure ain't there
But I'm drifting north, to check things out again
You know the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
Only seven flying hours, and I'll be landing in Hong Kong
There ain't nothing like the kisses
From a jaded Chinese princess
I'm gonna hit some Hong Kong mattress all night long
Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
Yeah the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
And it's really got me worried
I'm goin' nowhere and I'm in a hurry
And the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
(Repeat twice)
