She’s talented BUT I can’t stand the mandolin. My hangup. From age 4 I begged my parents to let me study the pipe organ but they went and bought me a mandolin. Struggled with the thing but hated it. Eventually my parents relented as I,d been sneeking off to the local Presbyterian church and taking informal organ lessons.
The only time I can stand mandolins are when played in large groups such as :-

Why do you imagine I avoid most rock concerts?
Strange thing though, some performances I find so electric they somehow survive appalling recorded sound. Lisa Fischer (OK , I’m a besotted fan) sadly has hundreds of nasty, amateurish recordings of her concerts on Youtube but for reasons nobody can figure hasn’t released a professionally recorded CD/DVD/download for decades.

On the few rare occassions a decent recording of her performances are made they’re never released commercially. Wish I could solve this mystery.

Maybe there’s been a techinical revolution I’m not aware of but I’d thought it was impossible to remove distortion once it had been recorded.

Interesting, at the beginning of the last year an organ scholarship was being offered at my daughter's school and the director of music suggested she should apply. I thought it was a good idea but she didn't but because of the covids and scholarship was pulled. If it's up again, I'll try a but more encouragement.

Just make certain the scholarship is offered with lessons on a pipe organ, not some electronic substitute.

It's real and old and good. I doubt she'd want to do it tho.
