Do Kids have the right to make up their own mind?

The way I see it, religious indoctrination from an early age and teaching children that there is only one true belief is about as inappropriate as indoctrinating them to hold the political views of their parents.

I have no problem with teaching kids about religion, but they should be taught that there are many different religions, each of which is regarded as valid by large numbers of people, and that some people survive quite happily with no religion (By the next census in 2011, the 'non religious' will probably outnumber the percentage of Roman Catholics if the trend continues.)

We don't have ALP schools and we don't have Liberal Party schools, so why on earth do we have Islamic schools or Lutheran Schools?

I realise that most Catholic schools in Australia (possibly all) currently teach about all world religions. I have no problem with that.
