Should the good gain entrance to Heaven?

I recall chatting one day to a little girl as we both got off a bus. Many years ago now. But it was interesting because she told me if I wasn't a believer I would be excluded from Heaven, regardless of how good I might be or how I will I have lived my life. This seems to me the ultimate reason not to believe- I mean how can you have faith in someone who promotes good deeds but rewards those who dont practice them over those who do on the basis of their professed belief in him?

anyone who claims to know who will be "excluded" is an idiot. One cannot claim to know what god does.

anyway christianity ultimatly states that its you who makes the decision of where you go, you either run from god or not.

the church states ways to live which help guide your spirit to god on EARTH, but it does not have a drawn out plan to get to heaven, furtehr more it is actually catholic church teaching that "we just dont know everything"

Im not running from him, im just not listening to words written by MEN in his name.

Chritianity in its strictest sense is driven by fear and punishment., and they wonder why they are losing support for the church.?

Connie, pretty good question there.
imho, it'ld be pretty hard to do deeds good enogh to enter heaven on that basis.
Does one bad deed negate one good one ?
Or does one bad deed mean we are a sinner, therefore no heaven for us ?

Those who know Jesus are given to good deeds, and propelled from bad ones.

I'ld say Christianity is driven by forgiveness and confession.
Forgiveness is the only thing we are asked to do in the prayer given to us by Jesus.
Confessing is both confessing our sins and confessing Christ as our saviour.

i always thought belief dictates what actions/deeds are good and bad.

so if u don't follow a belief, u may be doing something that is a bad deed and u don't know it. for example, if u have a gay guy who is a good person, but he performs sodomy which is an bad deed/sin according to most faiths.
