When he announces major policy initiatives on the fly, while government employees - who should have advised on it - learn of it on the news.

When unprecedented major market interventions that remove property rights are rammed through parliament a week before Christmas, without giving anyone time to read the policy, let alone consult on it or debate it (as happened with the gas price cap; our most communist legislation in a generation)

When his (delusional) ambitions for the leadership see him ceding too much to the green fringe, at the expense of blue collar jobs.

Mr Nishizawa said JERA would look elsewhere for supply, with the US and Middle East set to grab a big share of its contracts.

“While Australian LNG is expected to continue to make up part of Japan’s long-term energy mix, in the future it may not be the first choice as it has been in the past,” he said.  “In order to ensure future long-term LNG trade with Japan, serious action to address the competitiveness of Australian LNG is needed now.

Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen is in danger of losing his western Sydney seat of McMahon to local tech millionaire Matt Camenzuli, according to independent polling showing ­power bills a top concern.

Mr Bowen holds the seat, which has always been in ALP hands, with a margin of about 10 per cent after an electoral redistribution, but Compass polling taken last weekend shows him on just 19 per cent support, well ­behind independent candidate Mr Camenzuli on 41 per cent.

Not only does the polling show Mr Bowen behind the local businessman, but also just below the Liberal support of 20 per cent. The distribution of Liberal preferences could decide the outcome on election night.

Voters in McMahon overwhelmingly rejected the same-sex marriage plebiscite Labor ­supported in 2017, as well as the ­Indigenous voice to parliament.
