OK, so poor outcomes for people are the gummits'  fault, but you don't want to fund jobs for all?

My supplier tells me the rise in solar has led to an increase in the supply of daylight electricity. Costs are dropping.  Oz has too much electricity, daylight saving destroys coal, inflation burns out light-bulbs and no-one has any money.

That's not like charging you for every KW hr you put back into the grid.

Not meaning that! What have they been doing with the delivery charge? NOT getting the grid ready, that is for sure.

Rooftop solar power is becoming a fool's paradise. There is no bigger fool than GTTF.

The fools like GTTF don't understand:

1. You can not be independent of mains power while you have street lighting from the power company.

2. Rooftop solar will become so prevalent that there will be an excess supply, and in such circumstances, the rate for infeed will be $0.00

3. Daytime clouds or prolonged cloudy periods will cause a drop in the amount of solar power generated.

4. Batteries would have to be quite large to guarantee power availability during prolonged bad weather.

5. Batteries have a finite lifetime and disposal costs will increase with growing numbers of battery systems.

Hands up all those who wouldn't install rooftop solar and a battery, if the government paid for it? (See the conclusionof this post).

Ah -  so you are talking about going off-grid, most of us aren't.

Ah - so you want to be paid for your excess electricity. Ok, better get the grid upgraded so it can cope with the excess at midday.

No kidding, that's when your grid connection to large scale generation from the Pilbara, NT and Qld  is required, along with severql Snowy 2.0- scale schemes.

Domestic solar and batteries  will reduce elcectricity costs for homes considerably. No one is talking about going off grid in Oz's  cities.

Quote:
5. Batteries have a finite lifetime and disposal costs will increase with growing numbers of battery systems.

A recycling industry is required;   as for costs, the currency-issuing government  will need to issue debt free money in the Oz Treasury, to fund a timely transition to the zero economy.

Current obsolete government tax and borrow systems will not survive, because the IPCC is already calling on governments to do more, rather than slacking off on their Paris commitmnets, as a result of false government austerity/"balanced budget" ideologies.
