Malcolm Turnbull was just on ABC 24 news now.
No video available yet online.

He said that in the light of Trump's action in Ukraine we need to
re-evaluate our AUKUS contract for subs as we need to be able to defend ourselves alone
and not rely on the US or the UK.

I think we should even build nukes -
you only get respect if you have nukes -
Ukraine was bullied cause they have no nukes.

The Yanks would have destroyed Russia over Ukraine if they had no nukes.

Ukraine was a sitting duck and so are we to the Chinese now -
our Yanky nuclear umbrella means nothing  -
the non proliferation treaty was just to keep us weak and under control.

But it takes a long time to get nuclear weapons -
you need a nuclear reactor to get the Plutonium first
unless you use enriched Uranium to over 90% in
which case it's hard to separate it - and also takes years.

It’s an eye watering cost at A$46 billion for each sub.

Just as a comparison – let's look at another Mega engineering project with original designs:

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN took 10 years to build
and cost US$4.75 billion.

I think it's all too expensive and too hard.
We would be better off putting money towards a long range air force
and guided missiles to take out any invading ships.
That's a lot faster and a lot easier than submarines.

We have also had trouble crewing the subs -
people don't want to live and work in a dangerous metal tube.
It gives me claustrophobia just thinking about it.

Commercial pilots warned of potential hazard in airspace around Chinese warships

Exclusive by defence correspondent Andrew Greene and foreign affairs reporter Stephen Dziedzic
Topic:Federal Government

3m ago

Commercial pilots have been warned of a potential hazard in airspace between Australia and New Zealand, where three Chinese warships are conducting military exercises.

The ABC has confirmed a NOTAM — Notice To Airmen —
has been issued by Airservices Australia which prompted several international flights to divert course.

Airservices Australia, which is responsible for aviation safety within the region, has referred all questions to the Department of Defence.

NZ-bound flights diverted due to Chinese military drills

Michael Daly and Sam Smith
February 21, 2025 •06:27pm

fast facts
Flights between Australia and New Zealand have been diverted due to live fire exercises from the Chinese military.
One Sydney to Christchurch flight was warned directly, while others have had to divert due to the military drills.
Air New Zealand says it has modified its flight paths to avoid the area where the drills are taking place.

A flight from Sydney to Christchurch was warned to avoid airspace between Australia and New Zealand on Friday morning due to the Chinese military conducting live fire exercises.

The Emirates flight was warned directly by air traffic controllers at around 1pm (NZ time), while other airlines have had to divert flights as a result of the drills.

The Chinese military were said to have been conducting their drills 547km south-east of Sydney.

Air New Zealand told RNZ it "has modified flight paths as needed to avoid the area, with no impact on our operations".

Warnings continue to remain in place, with the Australian Defence Force saying the drills have caused significant disruption due to the limited notice period and impact on commercial flights.

Fareed Zakaria defined the term as "hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people's judgment"

It's payback for us sending the Orion P8's through the south China sea.

Not much we can do about China -
they have the largest navy in the world.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2023/01/10/think-tank-the-us-fleet-could-l...

The U.S. Fleet Could Lose Four Aircraft Carriers Defending Taiwan

The U.S. Navy’s fleet of 11 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers fared poorly in a series of war games, simulating a Chinese invasion of Taiwan in 2026, that the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. recently organized.

Even when the United States and Japan successfully defended Taiwan—as they did in most of CSIS’s 24 simulations—the Navy lost at least two carriers ... and sometimes as many as four.

The Chinese would kill all our men and rape all our women.

(same as the Japs planned for Australia and NZ in WW2 )
