Five more blood clot cases likely linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine recorded in Australia.

Five new suspected cases of blood clotting linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine have been recorded across the country in the past week, but experts stress it remains a rare event.

Updated 4 hours ago

By Rashida Yosufzai

Five Australians over the age of 50 have developed blood clotting and low platelets after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine in the past week, the Therapeutic Goods Administration has confirmed.

The TGA says it is also looking into three other reports of blood clotting in the last week but is yet to make a determination on them.

The five new cases were in a 74-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman from Victoria, a 66-year-old man from Queensland, a 64-year-old woman from Western Australia and a 70-year-old man from Tasmania.

I'm too scared to get it even though I'm over 50 -
therefore eligible for the vax.

Trust your instinct Bobby.

I’m certainly not lining up for it in any near future.

Also - let's say it only gives a maximum of 6 months immunity
then what is the point of getting it now?
You'd be better to get it later on this year so you're prepared for
an opening of Australia in 2022 to international flights
from anywhere with no quarantine.

bobby,

heres what you need to understand .

1.  covid will almost certainly become a disease which will be with us forever.
it is in every corner of the globe and very contagious.
even measles which we have been vacinating against , even to deepest darkest africa, keeps popping up.  and we have 95 % immunisation rates for measles.
so lets accept, covid will ALWAYS be around

2.covid is capable of being spread by people who dont know they have it.  so from now, til the day you die, you could catch it off anyone.  and given enough time, you probably will.

3. luckily covid is not such a terrible disease, nowhere near as bad as spanish flu or sars.  it seems about 3 x as bad as the flu.  thats bad but the odds are you would survive.  say you are 60.  you would have about , maybe a 3 in 100 chance of death.
not terrible but concerning.

4.  given that we will eventually open up our borders, this year, next year, some time, you have to face the fact that you must now 'choose your poison"

the disease (maybe a 3 in 100 risk of death for you) or the vaccine (maybe a 1 in 200,000 risk of death for you).

there really is no way around it.

if you dont get vaccinated, you will probably , eventually , get the disease.

they simply arent going to do contact tracing and lockdowns and hotel quarantines forever.

5.  because governments know the ONLY way forward is yo get maybe 90 % of the population vacinated, they will have no option but to "wind up the pressure"

first it will probably be no flying without the vax, but eventually they will make it , no stadiums, no pubs and clubs, no public transport, no coles or woolies.  they will just keep passing restrictions til you get it.

so bobby, if you have a brain, get the vaccine.

covid is a small threat,
the vaccine is a tiny tiny threat.

the threat comes from not getting our economy moving again. that is a way bigger problem.
the pain that people will feel when inflation is 10 %, their super has halved and they cant pay their mortgage will make a 1 in 200,000 risk look like nothing.

if everyone gets vaccinated, we lose maybe 100 australians.

a very small price to pay.
a price worth paying to end the madness.

roll up your sleeves bobby.

face the challenge voluntarily and your immune system will respond.
wait til they force you and your immune system will be run down from all the anxiety.

israel and britain are seeing massive drops in numbers due to vacination.
a few clots is NOTHING my friend

I have a father who spent his childhood (12 years of age), through his teens, and into his adulthood being a smoker until he quit smoking when he was 35. Since then, he had continued to drink fairly regularly and did not take great care of his health until he was diagnosed as a diabetic. Since then, he cut back on his drinking and then continued taking medication and has lost a bit of weight.

However, he has had a few heart palpitations (or whatever it was that would define his condition). I do not know if they are strokes or ministroke or transient ischemic attacks as a result of his diabetes and former smoking and drinking.

I would be concerned that he might end up dead from a reaction to the vaccine. He is entitled to his vaccination right now. So, we will have to see how this will go for him.

Hi Aqua,
you've completely missed my point.

It only gives a maximum of 6 months immunity.

Not only that -
future mutations will make the vaccine we have now - useless.

Heart palpitations?

Get him to see a cardiologist.
His doctor can give him a referral.

I caught a sore throat this morning. Probably the result of leaving the windows open in my bedroom during a cold night. The sore throat is gone right now. But, I think that is signs that I should go get tested soon, in case it is something else.

Heart palpitations 15 years ago. Only Mum would be able to tell if Dad is in need of medical attention. Mum is a retired nurse with over 40 years of experience. She knows what to look for as symptoms.

not sure they will be useless bobby.
and , say you wait for the next vaccine.
any gaurantees it will not have issues.

it could be many years before we really understand whats going on.

but i cant see how a vaccine which has ben given to 100's of millions of people is a concern. even if a tiny number get an issue

But he needs to wear a data logger for 24 hours which
will monitor the number of palpitations.
If it's more than 500 in 24 hours then he'll need beta blocker medication.

Are you thinking of the covid19 vaccination in terms of the influenza vaccine? That we should get one each year, Bobby?

I figure we should live with covid19 until it dies off of its own accord. Get vaccinated this year. See if the virus dies off from a lack of hosts. Check again next year. Have those with the compromised immunity be vaccinated every year. Most of the rest of us will have an immunity to covid19 either from being infected of having the vaccination and we should be okay for years to come.
