Just got back from the Kooyong Rd. IGA.

Front page of today's The Sunday Times.

Yes, very tragic and my condolences to the girl's family and friends.

But, no acknowledgement of the 11 WA Covid deaths reported last week or condolences for their families in the paper, of course.

Or for any of the families of the 922 West Australian people killed by Covid since WA's border opened last March.

Or the 213 Covid deaths reported last week for all of Australia.

Or the 1,799 Australian deaths since the start of this year and 18,828 since the start of the pandemic.

What a sick, twisted world we're living in.

Ah, and about time, too.  Smiley

Actually, I felt a little disturbed about my last post and I was thinking about deleting it, especially after seeing your thread about the shark attack on the General Board, Greg.

But I'd just like to clarify that I'm not trying to minimise or mock the shark tragedy by making a comparison to the Covid deaths and, like everyone else I'm shocked and saddened by the girl's death.

Some more good news:

COVID-breaching New Year's Eve party at The George bar in Perth sees organiser found guilty

The organiser of a "secret" New Year's Eve party at a Perth bar has been found guilty of breaching COVID-19 restrictions by allowing partygoers to dance and drink standing up while trying to hide what was happening from police.

Good to see, Greg.  Smiley

I had to go to North Perth this morning to pick up a couple of scripts for my aunt's tablets and eyedrops.

Didn't feel like driving so I went on the bus - 2 buses actually. The 935 from Rivervale to the Causeway bus station and then the 960 from there to North Perth.

I was disappointed to see no more than about 10 masks during my trip there and back. That includes all of the people I saw in the city between the Causeway and the Wellington St. underground bus station and from there to North Perth.

Bonus points for the single Coles employee I saw wearing a mask in North Perth Plaza but no points awarded for the lady with the surgical 'baggy blue' under her chin on the 960 bus back into Perth (looked like she was asleep, actually).

Oh, and the 3 receptionists where my aunt and I go to see our GP's are still not wearing masks. At least none of them seemed to be hacking up a lung today unlike when I was there in early December.

Has anyone noticed that Panadol Extra tablets haven't been available for the past few months? At least they haven't here in Perth.

Coles... Woolies... IGA... pharmacies... no one has any at the moment. There's quite a few 'regular' Panadols and other brands on the shelves but no Panadol Extra. I asked a lady at one of the Belmont Forum chemists about it on Saturday and she said they're sold out everywhere and the stores are waiting for new stocks to arrive.

Looks like people have been hoarding them because they're stronger than regular Panadol probably because they have caffeine in them as well as paracetamol.

I remember the Australian Chief Medical Officer or his deputy advising everyone last year to stock up on Panadol to help with dealing with Covid infections so, just like toilet paper 3 years ago everyone has panicked and bought as many as they can.

Now... here's the funny thing. There are no Panadol Extra tablets to be found anywhere at the moment but there are plenty of Nyal "Paracetamol PLUS Caffeine" tablets on the store shelves.

If people took the time to read the Nyal box they would (should?) see that they're exactly the same as Panadol Extra, even the tablets are the same size and shape.

Paracetamol 500 mg
Caffeine 65 mg

Same thing happened a year or two back when everyone was being advised to stock up on Panadol... a lady went into a local chemist and there wasn't a single box of Panadol of any kind on the shelves but right next to the empty spaces where the Panadols used to be were boxes and boxes of Panamax tablets.

People really are funny (and stupid) these days.  Grin Grin Grin

When I get the occasional headache (which tends to happen a bit more during the colder months) I've found that Panadol Extra and now the Nyal tablets are the most effective in dealing with it for me which is why I like to keep some handy.

The Panadol Extra box in the attached picture is the larger 40 tablet box which I bought from a chemist a few months back while they still had some after the supermarkets had all sold out, the ones sold in the supermarkets are usually the 20 tablet boxes.

Perth, Western Australia.

The only place on earth where the rest of the country wants to push them to go 'independent' because they really are in a world of their own.

Carl, if Nail were here, he'd point out the fact that this so-called "shark attack" is highly suspicious.

This poor girl was doing fine before she got her poison dart, dear.

Questions questions, no?

Hi Carl.

If our WA friends headed off to the gym, took a few supplements - zinc, vitamin D, HQL - enjoyed a diet of nutritious raw veges and practiced "personal responsibility" over their despicable chode lifestyles, they wouldn't need masks. They could just get on with life being basically awesome.

Instead, they're a "cautionary tale".

Worth studying.
