The council has all sorts of rules about housing.

You can't just put a roof over someone's head.

Yes freediver!       Wink

Council rules, building code rules, zoning.......emergency housing be damned.

That's because there is no emergency.

There is a problem invented by certain politicians to give themselves something to fix.

freediver,

I don't know if the 'circumstance' you describe is actually correct.

But if it is true......it would be a shameful thing, imo.

And i would say that there would be many ppl who would disagree with you,
re you saying 'there is no emergency'.

And some State Governments in Australia in recent years have funded....building 'magnificent' new sporting arenas.....with TAXPAYERS money.

When today.......many ppl [many of them also taxpayers] are unable to afford to rent a roof over their heads,
and our [national and state] governments seem   unable/unwilling   to find a 'remedy' to this problem.

It is a disgrace, imo.

.

Gnads,

Nissan or Nissen,     .....whoever.

My bad.

He was a smart chappy.

Poor people with nowhere to live while politicians live it up.
- let them eat cake - they say.

Yada those sports arenas provide jobs for people so they can buy homes, they also buy goods and services from businesses which in turn provides more jobs. It increases tourism which also creates more jobs.

Trump derangement syndrome
Fareed Zakaria defined the term as "hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people's judgment"

Leroy,

Come on !!

IMO, its just govt 'bread and circuses'.....being funded from the public purse.
i.e.            TAXPAYERS

If those sports arenas are soooo positive [to the economy of a state], and provide such a good 'investment' [for the whole community],
why do TAXPAYERS [through state governments 'ingratiating' policies] need to fund them with public money ?

Surely, if the returns from sports arenas are so good......then 'private interests' would be coming forward to fund them [for their own profit!!].

Come on.

We should be using TAXPAYER money......to be fixing public housing FIRST !!

I generally don't like to see governments spending public money, to achieve ANY 'projects' [there is too much opportunity for graft always going on !].

graft3 = = bribery and other corrupt measures pursued for gain in politics or business.
