Nope.

Decades of criminological research show that capital punishment does not deter crime.

STUDIES: Death Penalty Had No Effect on Reducing Crime

Listen - left-wing nut job -

that's cause they stopped hanging em high:

U.S. states with the death penalty generally have higher murder and violent crime rates on average than states without capital punishment.

FBI Crime Data: According to data compiled by the Death Penalty Information Center using FBI Uniform Crime Reports, annual per-capita murder rates have consistently been higher in states with the death penalty than in states without it.

Regional Concentration: Many of the states with the highest homicide rates are located in the American South, which also happens to retain and carry out the majority of U.S. executions (such as Texas, Florida, and Alabama).

Lack of Deterrent Effect: Major academic reviews—including reports from the National Research Council—have found no statistically sound evidence that the death penalty deters murder more effectively than long prison sentences like life without parole.

Moratorium Studies: Research examining states that paused or abolished the death penalty found that the changes did not lead to an increase in murder rates.

Foreign officials and diplomats are, unsurprisingly, following the attack on Helen Haines very closely.

They’re grappling with the same questions confronting many Australian politicians and security officials: What does this tell us about the trajectory of Australian politics, and about political violence in this country?

Australia is not alone here. Several countries around the world, particularly democracies, are grappling with rising incivility, increasing hostile political discourse and a surging number of threats against elected leaders.

McCormack said he had taken steps in recent years to ensure his own safety due to the increasingly volatile political climate in Australia.

"In recent times it's gotten to a level that's quite frightening," he said.

"I've taken the branding off my car, I don't generally advertise where I'm going in advance, I'm more mindful of those things.

"But you shouldn't have to do that as an MP …  we're in Australia for goodness sakes."

He sounds like an extremely angry person, Aquascoot. I personally think we should remove such toxic discourse from civilised forums such as these.

We used to have moderation standards, but these all lapsed at some point.

Many of us remember when posters would receive a good talking to from the moderators, a request to edit, apologize and at times, even a ban.

I'd like to see social media companies held liable for damages within their control. I'd also like to see their algorithms published in the interests of transparency.

You?

Agreed

The superior man would never start a thread of hate on Biden or Harris or albo or  Dan Carroll.
Have any hate threads been started about donny.
I wonder how many
How much hate is spewed out here every day.
I do believe even his wife has been the subject of abuse.

These must be started by the inferior man
