We decided not to go ahead with a nuclear program as it would encourage nuclear proliferation
in this part of the world -
next thing - Indonesia, and Japan would follow and who knows who else?

It would probably be good if we could do it secretly but that is impossible -
only one person would have to talk -
or one spy would pick up the trail and the whole world would know.
The Yanks had ultra high security at the Manhattan project in 1942 yet
the Russians knew all about it and even had all the top secret plans too -
and that was not in the days of easy internet communication.
