They are not assimilating. Fact. Third generation muslims are burning down France.

Second generation Muslim massacred Jews on Bondi Beach. Second and third generation Muslims still go around in hijabs, niqabs, silly beards and all the rest of the idiotic superstitions as if they were still in Shiteholistan, not Australia. They will never assimilate. They despise and reject the country and its culture. They want to change it to suit them. Same in Europe and America and everywhe Muslims are let in.
Muslims do not assimilate because assimilation would require apostasy. Islam and modernity are incompatible.
Nobody disputes any of this, least of all, Muslims.

Their expectations is that those who are in the House of Islam eithed Submit, accept second class status as dhimmis (if they are Jews or Christians) or be killed.
If you applied the mildest version of this to Muslims in the West - assimilate, please, or go back to Islamistan - they call you an Islamomphobe. No official designation as second class, no extra tax and extra prohibitions, no killing - just FIFO. Which is asked of
everyone, not just Muslims. But you cant ask that of Muslins because fitting in would require apostasy, the abandoning of core Muslim beliefs and practices.
The hypocrisy is breath-taking. As is their constant whining about victimhood,
