Imagine a scenario where someone tortures and disembowels a family member of yours. You want justice. The sentence is death. You have the option to sit in and watch the execution take place. Would you go watch it happen?

People want to see the execution because it brings closure to their frustrations about keeping a mass murderer alive. He is in prison. But he is eating up resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Given the murderer's paralysis, we may as well see that he gets put out of his misery.

what would be your idea of justice for someone who who killed 13 people (and wounded 32) ?

Donald Trump has killed loads more than that.
