The book depicts a speculative future where Western civilization collapses due to a sudden, massive wave of migration from the Global South to France and the wider Western world. The title is derived from a passage in the biblical Book of Revelation.

You did not even know that Australia hosted American nuclear weapons. So, you have no connection to the Australian Air Force. But that is okay.

And you go as far as to say that we don't have people capable of going in to Paris to assist counter terrorism and riot squads into bringing the rioters under control.  Never mind that you don't believe that I would be part of the armed response team. That is okay, you are not familiar to the Australian army.

Australia has embassies around the world. You could be assured that we have people that are specialised trained people there who do more than program computers, or fix vehicles, who know how to shoot and bring terrorism under control. Why you don't think that trained military personnel could not fly over from England and join the fray, is beyond my understanding.

I will give you a run down of my accomplishments.

*I have 'briefly' piloted a plane. Not a jet engine. Just a small plane. 95% of the flight was piloted by an actual pilot. Once off. Never again.

*I have been shot. Once in the shoulder, when I was 11 years old. Reason: I mouthed off to his nephew. Took 8 years for the scar to disappear.

*I have shot a number of targets at a distance of 1.4km. Perhaps that is not out of the ordinary for 'good' snipers. But the circumstances of the sharpshooting meant that I would be considered part of the elite. Given that the advanced design of the sniper rifles made it easy, that would perhaps mitigate the accolade.

*I have hostage negotiated a situation in my neighbourhood, before police arrived to take command. Police took credit. I could not be happier for them to do nothing more than arrest the suspect and take credit.

Nothing in the last 3 years has been noteworthy in my life.

Your claim that you could get fined for falsely claiming to be part of the military also applies to you.

The reason why you don't think there were Australians in Paris in 2005 fighting against rioters is because you are not in the military. I don't know what went on in Afganistan, purely because I was not there. That does not negate a *short-term* stint in Paris in 2005.

You don't know what went on in Paris, because you were too busy working your job in Australia and not giving a flyin' bugger about what happened in Paris.

I have never played Black Ops or Call of Duty on Playstation or XBox. Cannot afford the consoles. I have a dvd ROM of some sniper game in my second room that I have not played in a few years. But, my realistic training I did in my late teens and early 20s has definitely shown that you don't have the benefit of a ceiling fan and access to a refrigerator to keep you cool when the going gets tough.

Have you ever layed still for 12 hours, whizzing your pants from time to time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot the enemy?
Neither have I. I have however shot up some bitch's snakes -- which she threatened to release upon me and my co-workers, if we dared tried to arrest her. I got told off by the police for doing what I did, in the aftermath.

It would not surprise me if kissing Gnad's ring is what excites him. He might get a little disappointed if he figures out "kissing the ring" meant the ring on his finger.

Gnads, and I will say this generously, has worked a life where he just did his duty to look after himself, his family, and his friends. He lived a long, dull, uniniteresting life. But, he kept his nose clean and made no noise in his section of the world.

But, that standard of mediocrity has lulled him into thinking that other people could not have superceded his expectations.
