On October 19, the French newspaper Le Monde documented how footage of the violence was spreading through American MAGA circles, including posts amplified by Elon Musk, with an anti-immigration interpretation. The newspaper also identified AI-generated images circulating alongside authentic footage. Some of the destruction being shared online is absolutely real. The question is whether the explanations attached to those videos are supported by the evidence.
