Albanese says new Greens leader’s remarks ‘somewhat concerning’

The prime minister, Anthony Albanese, said he was concerned the newly minted Greens leader David Shoebridge had criticised the Labor party during his first speech at the helm yesterday.

Shoebridge declared he wants the Greens to replace Labor, casting his party as the one that can “beat down One Nation”.

Albanese said the remarks were “somewhat concerning” at a press conference in Tasmania this morning, adding:

I think that at a time where we see a rise of a far-right wing party, senator Shoebridge took the opportunity to actually criticise Labor.

Yet it's Labor rolling out rouge American AI. Forcing data centres on communities. Pushing up power and water costs. Squandering on nuke subs. Building public housing for military Americans while ignoring Australians. Overseeing a cost of living crisis. Selling weapons to Israel, so they can murder civilians with. Passing draconian laws. Spending like an American drunk sailor in Thailand, so to drive up inflation/rates etc etc.

With Mehreen and SHY at risk of being fired in the next election the Greens had to go with Shoebridge who will stay for another term unless AnAl calls double dissolution election.

The 79-year-old resigned in June - despite successfully fighting to have his life membership reinstated by the party over a drawn-out internal dispute over transgender rights and social media comments.

Speaking to ABC's 7.30 in 2025, Hutton accused the party of shutting down debate on gender policy.

'What I disagree with vehemently is the way that anybody who actually voices any dissent with that policy and does so from a credible position, that there is such a thing as biological sex and there are two sexes, is forced out of the party,' he said.

Section 92 of the Australian Constitution states:

“Trade, commerce, and intercourse among the States… shall be absolutely free.”

The High Court has consistently interpreted this to mean:

✔ The Commonwealth cannot prohibit private interstate trade.

✔ The Commonwealth cannot force private businesses out of existence.

✔ The Commonwealth cannot compel private firms to surrender assets.

✔ The Commonwealth cannot create a monopoly by eliminating competitors.

This is exactly why Chifley’s 1947 bank nationalisation failed.

The Court ruled:

The Commonwealth could create a public bank.

But it could not force private banks to close or surrender their assets.

Doing so would violate Section 92’s guarantee of free interstate commerce.

This precedent is still binding.

And the Greens’ supermarket plan runs straight into it.

It doesn't that is his working title & he's in uniform- he's not the civilian being pulled up for a breathalyzer & drugs test -Shoebridge is.

Shoebridge used his title to try & make out he was someone who shouldn't be pulled up or tested.

The cop said it was his name.

What part of an on duty Police Officer - a govt law enforcer - identifying himself with his rank & name don't you comprehend?

Soldiers do the same thing when in uniform.
