The Indigenous pay gap (here we go)
Sep 24th, 2026 at 6:34pm

So abos with tertiary/postgraduate education (who were able to enter uni with a lower ATAR) get hired under DEI at greater rates than similarly qualified non-abos get paid less because they end up under-performing. Imagine that!

"If you've got a post-grad qualification … and you're First Nations, you've got a higher employment rate than non-Indigenous people, but the average annual income for Indigenous people with those qualifications is generally lower."

Looks like they didn't adjust of regional pay differences, 50% of abos live outside metro areas.

They went looking for structural racism....and made it up.

"Indigenous pay gap"? You mean that the indigenous people are getting paid more for doing less work?

Too often I see indigenous people (especially teens) walking around with designer running shoes. Those shoes probably cost half a week's wage for any working class person. And you wonder where they get money for these shoes, as both parents are not working.

On the other hand, there are those indigenous who have come in from remote places to try and make an honest living inside a township. They live within their means and are no trouble to the community.

One side has nothing to lose with their antics. The other knows the value of a proper life.

The metro/regional pay gap in general is bigger than the claimed abo pay gap.

I would suggest that those regional communities with high proportion of indigenous people would get more money for less work. Mainly because there is no work.

The Aboriginal pay gap is the same as the Gender pay gap.

There's no such thing.

It has been illegal to discriminate in the work place based on race(1975 - 50 yrs ago) or gender for 42 years - 1984.

But since then through deliberate rewording discrimination by race & gender continues.

The use of quotas for women is discrimination.

The use of programs that are called affirmative action is discrimination.

It's even worse when when qualification levels/standards are dumbed down to allow for a racial demographic - because that is discrimination - & it can cause unnecessary risks in certain fields of endeavour.

If that's not patronising behaviour that questions the intelligence of those from that demographic & their ability to pass the required levels for everyone else then I don't know what is. Roll Eyes

I prefer my pilots and doctors and air traffic controllers etc to not be DEI appointees forced on us.  It's bad enough that they pervade the public service - the half way house - remember that my frankly insane wife worked direct for Bob Carr.... and hid her literal insanity well before wrecking my years of work to build up a nest egg  and home.

When she went the rat, I talked with her direct boss and he told me she couldn't come back to work unless she took her pills... they never told me she had to take any and she refused anyway and then resigned instead.  Now she's married to some other poor bastard and was on national TV complaining that they didn't own a home.... she ruined ours, on the park and five minutes walk to the Wallabies home ground - and left me with nothing but the bills.

Not forgetting the gender pay gap....

INEQUALITY: This Woman Makes Just $13 A Day Selling Pet Rocks On Etsy While MALE Robert Downey Jr. Made Millions Playing Iron Man

...

O. EM. GOSH.

Inequality is still a HUGE problem, even in a progressive utopia like Hollywood.

Case in point: this woman's name is Xayley Briers. She spends forty-five minutes a day running her Etsy storefront selling pet rocks. Do you know how much she makes? About $13 a day.

Pretty sad, right?

Well, it gets worse. While Briers works her butt off selling and shipping pet rocks all over the country for almost an hour each day, Hollywood A-lister and cisgendered white male Robert Downey Jr. has made hundreds of millions of dollars for playing Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And what did he do? Simply help the franchise make billions worldwide. Both people are working hard, and one is making a LOT more money than the other. Why do you think that is? Oh, that's right. It's because she's a WOMAN and he's a MAN and our country apparently still doesn't recognize women as human beings.

Can you say "injustice?" DISGUSTING.

I blame the patriarchy. Buy more pet rocks for gender equality!!!
(that or Robert Downey should transition and be a woman and play Ironing Woman)

We are spending an absolute fortune, and creating all sorts of mini communist ghettos, and creating a culture that constantly reinforces the belief that they deserve to be given different, 'special' treatment on account of the colour of their skin, all in the name of maintaining aborigines in their "traditional" lifestyle in remote communities that have zero job prospects. Perhaps that is the first thing to look at if you want to address the pay gap.

Abos should get onto Temu and start selling pet rocks and Šeamtime hair dye from the outback.
All the sensitive, caring and nurturing inner city women and spiritually questioning boys are an untapped market.

Too much sit down money. A friend went out to Alice Springs to see what the conditions were like around the region. He approached a group of indigenous people camping near the Ayres Rock site. One of the elder ladies (probably in her 50s or 60s) mentioned to him how the drying up tourist dollars were causing them to miss out on their payments like they did. They asked if he was able to help do something about it. He mentioned that he was not able to do anything, as he was not up the chain of command in his "government job" -- still has not told me what he does. The 'lady' then suggested that he "go **** off then".

Amazing. You don't want people to climb a rock. But, when they stop showing up in large numbers, you cry "poor bugger me" at the circumstances. Then you want money for doing nothing, regardless. ****en hag.
