If ever a government misread the mood of Veterans and the absolute cockup of implementation of a funding cutback it is this one.    Albanese should hang his head in absolute shame and the lame duck Minister for Veteran's Affairs - Matt "Backlogs" Keogh should be fired. 

The $5000 limit on Allied Services was sold to Veterans as a good thing that would free up money for other Veteran's Services by ensuring Practitioners did not overcharge or overservice DVA - when in fact it was just a cost cutting exercise to reduce DVA funding for allied services.    I cannot recall such a revolution against a Government policy that affected Veterans since the Vietnam War when the RSL and DVA(at the time) denied their existance

DVA needs a top down broom through it and a change back to what it is supposed to be doing - fighting for Veterans, not against them.   In many cases, DVA spend more money on Lawyers fighting Veterans than it would if it just done the right thing and paid them their rightful compensation.

DVA stinks more than a rotting carcass and it has now dragged Albanese and the rest of the Party into the mire.  Veterans will not forget the way they have been treated

I can think of only 1 half decent Defence Minister since my time in the Services, and that was Brendan Nelson the rest have been bad to the level of the current one - Keough - who is not only incompetent but looks creepy and is a laughing stock amongst his peers - he needs to go and the quicker the better.  Having said that, the upper echelons of DVA need clearing out as well.

This $5000 Limit debacle, plus the proposed cuts to the Health Insurance Rebate for basically old age Pensioners, will see this Government booted out unless, like the Limit, it is shelved.     It beggars belief that even with an Opposition Party that has lost all trace of the ideals that Menzies created it with and is bumbling around in ever decreasing circles will end up back in Government because a tired and worn out Labor Party cannot get it's poo in one sock.
