The White Australia Party is in the High Court challenging the hate laws they were banned under. But the most interesting thing in that courtroom isn't what they're arguing. It's what the government is arguing.

The Commonwealth's position, in their own written submissions, is that the smaller the group, the less difficult it should be to justify banning it.

That's the argument I want you to sit with for 44 minutes. Because if size works against you rather than for you, the question stops being whether these laws apply to them, and starts being whether they apply to you.

I've worked all three sides of this system. Cop. Prosecutor. Defence lawyer. So when I tell you the law doesn't work the way you assume it does, I'm not guessing.

Well, ON is scaring the sh*t out of the major parties - a good thing - because mainstream "austerity economics" is destroying the lives of working people.

Yesterday Barnanby Joyce said "we need to reduce immigration and ignore the objections of economists": he's right, but he won't be able to make the economy work for woking people - which will require the government to either raise taxes on the wealthy, or authorize government to fund itself via its currency-issuing capacity (which is rejected by mainstream economists: see the MMT thread).



Meanwhile your bleating about government debt is part of the problem; a currency-issuing government need not tax or borrow money from the private sector - an obsolete  practice in the hew age of fiat currencies.   

It's coming to a head all around the world: debt-burdened govts. abandoning spending on an expensive green transition (a "hoax" according to Trump); and unable to properly fund vital social srvices for an aging population.
