Labor has covertly extended the life of its racist and failed compulsory income management regime today, joining with the Coalition to kill off a Greens attempt to put an end to this cruel program. Sad

In April 2022, federal Labor made an election commitment to scrap compulsory income management. Two elections in, and Labor has instead extended compulsory income management indefinitely. The Government also refuses to release the documents from the apparent consultation they’ve been conducting since 2023.

The Greens’ disallowance, moved by Senator Allman-Payne, sought to oppose the Social Security (Administration) Legislation Amendment (Income Management and Enhanced Income Management) Instrument 2026 (the Instrument). Labor’s Social Services Minister, Minister Tanya Plibersek, registered the Instrument on 24 June 2026 which removed the self-repealing clauses for four income management determinations that Labor made in 2023, effectively extending compulsory income management indefinitely.

Senator Allman-Payne is chairing the current Community Affairs References Committee’s review into the Instrument. As of 7 September, the majority of the submissions to the committee oppose the deeply unfair and targeted compulsory income management scheme and call for a transition to a voluntary system.

“Labor has today extended a failed, racist and coercive policy indefinitely, despite pledging to abolish it.

“Labor won’t release their own consultation because it’ll tell them what they already know: that compulsory income management doesn’t work, that it harms people, and that it must be abolished and replaced with a truly voluntary system.

“Compulsion, fear and racism should never be part of a genuine safety net. Social security must instead champion equality, human rights and the right to choose what income management works for you.”

Some people - and that also means some white people - that are on social security -

need their income managed or they will always have nothing & be totally destitute.

So despite the BS from the Greens - the Policy is not racist just because Aboriginals are over represented in numbers statistically.

I wonder why that might be?

Was it also Green leftards like Allman-Payne who went ballistic over a woman dressing up like a crow for an AFL final because it required her to blacken her face?

Australia: Services Australia (via Centrelink) administers a program known as Enhanced Income Management.

If an individual is classified as a "Vulnerable Welfare Payment Recipient," up to 100% of their social security payments can be quarantined. The money is placed into a managed account accessed via a SmartCard, ensuring it can only be spent on priority essentials like food, housing, and medical care rather than alcohol or gambling.

Private Incomes, Assets, & Private Wealth (Guardianship)

If an individual has private income (such as salaries, investments, or an inheritance) but lacks the cognitive or legal capacity to manage it due to disability, illness, or age, management falls under Guardianship and Financial Management laws. [1]

The Legal Process (Judiciary): A state tribunal or court (such as a Civil and Administrative Tribunal in Australia or a Probate Court in the US) must formally declare the person incapacitated.

The Administrator (Executive/Independent): The court will then appoint a financial administrator. If no family member is willing or capable, the court appoints a state government-appointed body, such as the Public Trustee and Guardian (Australia) or a Public Conservator (US).

This official takes total control of the person's private bank accounts, pays their bills, and distributes an allowance for daily living expenses.

There is nothing racist about these policies.

The Greens would rather see more people homeless & destitute - aka the Yank term On Skid Row.
