It’s only Wednesday and in less than 72 hours we’ve had:
1. A sportsman (jockey) will serve just 4 months jail after being convicted of strangling a woman and then blackmailing her if she reported him to police
2. Another sportsman (footballer)subject to an ongoing investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a woman has just been awarded a $12 million contract
3. Another sportsman (footballer)is set to do the keynote at the Ashburton Excellence Awards who a magistrate said subjected his former partner to 9 months of terror.
4. Another sportsman (surfer) has been suspended for alleged sexual assault or a teenager and allegedly then leaving her to be gang raped after by 3 more men.
And we wonder why women are exhausted and angry at how we value men who excel in sports more than we do the safety and dignity of women.
