No he doesn't you clown - he mentioned Mattel as a toy company whose CEO Ynon Kreiz says they will continue to manufacture offshore ...

Trump said in response they would put a 100% tariff on his toys.

He quite clearly said "... they're the only country ...".

"And if Mattel… I don't know, I'm not so sure. They they also said… they're the only country I've heard they said, Well we're going to go counter. We're going to try going someplace else. That's OK. Let him go and he'll have… we'll put a 100% tariff on his toys ..."

Yes thinking its a toy making country doesn't exactly help.

So he miss-spoke the word country instead of company and you're pouncing on it. You must be short of any real substance against him I guess.

If this sort of thing happened once every now and then, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Everyone misspeaks occasionally.

However, Trump does it several times every single day.

It's not normal.

His brain is mush.

Take a look:

And that's an old video - there's another six years of him mangling the English language.

Greggery, that's unfair. The American people have just seen the demise of an aging senior citizen - Joe Biden, a prez so aged and infirm he was known as Sleepy Joe. For heaven's sake, the man forgot the name of his defence secretary. He once called Obama a mainstream African-American and said this was "storybook". He mixed up big pharma with federal health benefits, saying he beat Medicare.

Not to mention all the little "accidents" - falling off his bicycle, kissing his granddaughter's hair, missing a step to board Air Force One and nearly tripping. The man was a walking disaster.

You want to compare someone like that to president Trump? It's redeculous.

You should try to be a little more balanced. Nobody's perfect, you know. We all make mistakes.

The proof is in the pudding.

We will make America great again, no?

While it is true that Trump referred to Mattel as a country, he quickly said "his toys" — referring to Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz — would have to bear 100% duties, indicating he understood Mattel made toys. He also added, "I wouldn't want to have him as an executive too long," which suggested he may have known Mattel was a company.

This type of misspeak is the one most often associated with dimentia.

Ahhh so that's why you thought Joe Biden was OK?  Grin

I always said they were both too old but Biden was never anywhere near as bad as Trump. That is probably the reason that Biden finished with about the best record of any President in about the previous 70 years and Trumps record is a disgrace.

Biden was old and clearly age affected but he still found a way to produce great results.

The only thing that Trump hasn't failed at is nastyness.

That's totally unfair, Dnarever. It's far too early to tell.

Also, Mr Trump had a lot of problems dumped in his lap - foreign wars that never would have started if he was prez. Nobody said fixing Ukraine and Gaza would be this hard. Mr Trump has ended seven wars so far, but Gaza and Ukraine were the toughest.

He got a win in Gaza, but then he had to take an excursion into Iran. No one knew the mullahs would play dirty and close the Strait. That shut down the economies of at least five Gulf states. Mr Trump's working on a peace deal as we speak, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Also, Greenland's not solved yet - that's a major problem with Russian and Chinese warships menacing the Eskimos and causing trouble. I'd say Cuba's going to give America problems too. Mr Trump might need to take out the leadership there, like he did with Venezuela.

Mr Trump recently announced the US has taken $13 bil worth of oil out of Venezuela, which is good. He didn't comment on the recent earthquake there, which is bad. The estimated damage is over $6.7 bil. The US may sling some of Venezuela's oil cash in - or maybe not, we'll have to see.

On top of all these security and oil problems, there's the so-called "friendly" countries ripping America off. Only recently, Mr Trump had to start a trade war with Canada. Mr Trump may have fixed that - he got the Canadians back by changing the name of Lake Ontario to lake America. He then said if other countries don't play nice, there's the name of two oceans he can change too, the Pacific and the Atlantic - or both, he said, it depends how he feels.

The other major problem the US had was immigration. Mr Trump fixed that by ending it almost entirely - at least until they can work out what the hell is going on. The only people getting into America now are white South African farmers and any millionaires who fork out for the Trump gold card.

All of these things are causing inflation, but you can't blame the president for that. Mr Trump stepped in early, telling Congress to pass legislation to give big business a tax cut, putting more money in shareholder's pockets. The lost tax revenue ticked the federal deficit up, but that's okay, the US can just borrow more. Only problem is, the lenders are starting to get the jitters, triggering a major selloff in the US bond market after news came out that the US now owes $40 tril.

You can't blame that on Mr Trump. He's only just become prez. He did just the right thing by cutting taxes for the rich and starting an endless war in Iran, they all said it had to be done. If you want to pin the deficit on someone, go to Sleepy Joe and the Kenyan.

As a businessman, Mr Trump became prez at just the right time to put things right. He ordered his Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant to do something. Scott decided to buy a whole bunch of old bonds back, pulling the money out of Treasury. It raised the price of US bonds for a few days until the end of last week, when they dropped back down again. Scott blew $4 bil on the deal.

Inflation's the job of the Federal Reserve, who stop inflation by raising interest rates. Mr Trump sees things a little differently. He ordered the Fed Chair Kevin Warsh to lower interest rates - a bit of a counter-move, but that's the kind of 4D chess Mr Trump plays. Kevin only gets one vote on the board, but if he doesn't do what Mr Trump says, Mr Trump will get cranky.

When the previous Fed Chair Jerome Powell didn't order the board to lower interest rates, Mr Trump told the DOJ to press criminal charges. The DOJ later dropped the investigation after discovering Jerome didn't commit any crimes, but you never know, so it was good to check.

So yes, Dnarever, it's far too early to say whether Mr Trump's policies will succeed or fail, the jury's still out on this.

Still, at least he didn't break Medicare, eh?

True, Carl, but he planned to end it in six weeks.

Perhaps his legacy will show that he didn't really mean it. He just intended a quick excursion and only started an endless war by accident.

Shurely shome mishtake, no?

Sounded like he mixed up what he was saying. He was probably thinking ahead to Mattel relocating to another country. That is my guess.

Another poster claimed that Trump would have meant to say "company", not "country". I maintain that Mr Trump was getting ahead of himself, regarding Mattel relocating to another country. And how could a "country" relocate?

Speaking of toys (and games).

🎮 THE WHITE HOUSE ARCADE 🎮

Mr. Newberger's AI Funnies

Quote:
The White House has been turning Trump’s policies into retro video games—so I created five games they somehow forgot to release.

Return to a simpler time, when the graphics were crude, the controls were clumsy and destroying American democracy required only one button.

Five deeply stupid games. One deeply unserious superpower.

Welcome to THE WHITE HOUSE ARCADE—the newest video from Mr. Newberger’s AI Funnies.

"Country" and "company" can get mixed up quite easily. I want Trump gone, too. But, not over something this trivial.
