China's debt to GDP is c.99%
Central Government: Official central government debt alone accounts for a smaller share, roughly 30% of nominal GDP.
General Government: Broader measures that include local government obligations put the total general government gross debt at 99.2%.

No, Australia's federal national debt does not include state debt Quote:DEEP STATE !!!
The private sector banksters demanding the sole privilege to create money are indeed the criminals who will crash the economy as govts. can no longer afford to deliver essential public services to the working class.
btw, trader extraordinaire Gary Stevenson is arguing for taxation of the super-rich who pay lower tax rates than the rest of us, because govts. haven't worked out how to tax their wealth; see his many youtube interviews.
Thank you for the correction. Our current debt is projected to reach 2.1% of GDP by the end of the year.
In response, our government has raised capital gains tax, removed negative gearing on property and are currently reforming the NDIS to prevent fiscal carnage.
The US, by contrast has
total national debt of $40 tril. This is government debt, including the interest owed on all those government bonds Scott Bessant's been snapping up.
You may recall a similar crisis in the UK, when then-PM Liz Truss announced tax cuts that blew the British bond market in 2022. This was right in the height of covid. The UK are still paying off the billions owed on that one.
Liz was forced to resign post-haste. The Tories never recovered. If they can't be fiscally-responsible, there's basically no point having them. The national socialists in Reform have replaced the Conservatives as the defacto UK reactionary party.
DL? He's just doing with DL does. When faced with a major national crisis, he retorts with a demented word salad, indicating absolutely no solution or interest. He'll double down on it too. I guarantee you the cult will be justifying new wars as a way of solving the national debt crisis.
Now, I know you'll push your usual pro-government debt point, but you normally refer to government investment in wealth-generating infrastructure, not government spending on foreign Trump-owned mines, tax cuts for billionaires and bombing girl's schools in Iran.
That's classed as bad debt, as every schoolboy knows. The US got nothing out of invading Afghanistan and Iraq or the Bush tax cuts, just as they got nothing out of the Invasion of Iran or the big, beautiful bill. This debt just raises inflation and gets passed down the generations until at some point - like Liz's fiscal fiasco - governments lose their credit ratings and everybody suffers.
When this happens, it typically leads to recession if not actual default, as countries like Mexico and Argentina know all too well.
DL's proposal of military intervention is not only demented, it's costing the US Treasury even
more. Countries and markets are pulling out of US bonds and stocking up on gold. That $40 tril debt figure was a symbolic wake-up call, but DL's remarks have sounded the alarm.
Come now, Great. Wakey wakey, hands off snakey, no?
