I don't know much about Nepal's topography. But if this happened, would the floodwater still be heading downhill for quite a while?

Reminds me of the USA trying to convince Indian Ocean Asian nations to support Earthquake & Tsunami warning system in the Region due to high risk assessments but Myanmar convinced the Asian nations not to because USA is evil, etc.
Again, 5 years later: kaboom! An entire plate lifted and dropped resulting in Tsunamis everywhere.

This has been happening for millions of years due to plate tectonics. just sayin'.

Picking up the Glacier fall incorrectly as an earthquake wasn't the factor.
The factor should have been treated as an earthquake which will have consequences and the instant drill measures of evacuations should have been implemented strait away regardless.

Then again, more seriously, the Nepalese had over 10 years since their earthquake in 2015 to come up with ways to counter glaciers that crash into a river system. Perhaps you (Gnads) should have been over there bellowing out instructions on harm minimisation re: flash flooding.

My error. The report of cause by the Chinese side and deforestation was one of the first claims out as to why.

In truth though, I the 90s. Landslides were common.
I even had to traverse across one that was a week old.

Gnat, you equate missing a turn off to go back to Rockhampton as something relevant in the topic of people who died in a flash flooding event. The casual indifference you have to the death of large numbers of people is concerning. I knew a married couple, who were from Nepal. They were quite distressed about the 9000 people that were killed in the earthquake of 2015. And it is likely that they have relatives caught up in dealing with the flooding.

I don't believe you are an expert in anything other than sociopathy, Gnat. There is a show called "Have you been paying attention" on Monday nights on channel 10. The host and quizmasters make fun of a bunch of topics. But if the topic is a matter of life and death, they dispense with the jokes and take the issue seriously. Maybe try to emulate that aspect when it comes to topics like Nepal's disasters.
