I ran Advanced System Care last night before I went to work. Five hours later, I come home and find the program still running and 99% finished. Decided to let it run its course and I went to bed. Woke up at 6 in the morning to see that the 99% complete was still there. I had to shut that off (restart the computer) and then load up Kaspersky to do a Quick Scan of the computer. Kaspersky took 10 minutes to load.

When I was in defence, one of the AntiVirus programs absolutely banned on all Commonwealth PCs was Kapersky.  It is a Russian Company and tests by DSD revealed it was reporting home to “mother” when the machine connected to the internet.     I use AVG Internet Security which is around $80 for a full suite of Anti Virus and various diagnostic and tuning tools.    It cleans the registry, gets rid of broken links, diagnoses hard drive issues, provides a terrific VPN, has anti tracking , updates software and for an extra few bucks will update all your drivers.      It also has an uninstall program to get rid of those programs you don't want.  You can also get CCleaner Free to do some of those tasks for free  but make sure you download it from the company website

I had always found Kaspersky to do a decent job in keeping the computer running efficiently.

I did a quick scan of the computer. Then I let the computer run a full scan whilst I was at work. I came home to find that the computer was doing some kind of update. Then I shut down a few minutes later. The computer has been running well today.
