Minns Labor government pulls Hospital upgrades!!
Jul 13th, 2026 at 3:13pm

“ The NSW Minns government is not slashing its overall health budget, but it is halving its health infrastructure spending as a percentage of the state's economic output. The state budget features record-level recurrent funding to hire staff and cover services, but cuts are being made to new hospital construction projects to rein in state debt.Key Details of the Health Funding AdjustmentsRecord Recurrent Spending: The government has directed a historic $10.3 billion forward funding boost into the health sector over four years. This includes funding to recruit an additional 9,000 health workers and implement Safe Staffing Levels in emergency departments.Infrastructure Squeeze: Capital expenditure for health infrastructure is projected to fall from $3.5 billion to $2 billion by 2029-30. As a percentage of the state's economic output, this is the lowest level seen since 2018.Current Projects: While the government is pulling back on future capital projects, the budget includes $3.6 billion for the construction and upgrade of hospitals in Rouse Hill, Bankstown, and Fairfield. Why is this happening?Treasurer Daniel Mookhey is reining in the overall state infrastructure program to manage rising debt servicing costs. The government is shifting its focus away from significant capital construction toward operational efficiency, workforce expansion, and the maintenance of completed works.Where to learn moreTo see the full breakdown of how these funds are being allocated, you can review the NSW Government 2026-27 Budget highlights.”

“Ai

Money saved will no doubt be given to Emperor of the NRL to build and upgrade football facilities?

Maybe fund some inner city park or build a new highway that they can then privatise?

So many things to choose than what there real responsibility are!

“ The Minns Government is currently driving major stadium and precinct upgrades across NSW, anchored by a $309 million redevelopment of Penrith Stadium, a massive Illawarra masterplan, and new arena projects in Newcastle. These investments are part of a broader strategy to revitalize sporting infrastructure and open up surrounding areas to commercial and residential development.Penrith Stadium: The $309 million upgrade is well underway and firmly on track for the 2027 NRL season. The project will deliver a modern 30,000-capacity venue featuring state-of-the-art corporate, broadcast, and player amenities, while retaining the much-loved grassy hills at either end. Construction has already reached its highest structural points.Wollongong (WIN Stadium & Arena): Backed by a $17 million planning and investment commitment, the government plans to transform the Wollongong Sporting and Entertainment Precinct. The vision includes nearly doubling the WIN Arena's seating capacity to 9,500 and heavily upgrading WIN Stadium's grandstands for the St George Illawarra Dragons and Illawarra Hawks.Newcastle (Hunter Park & Arena): The government committed nearly $15 million to advance the detailed design of a new $500 million, 12,000-seat Newcastle Arena. Located next to McDonald Jones Stadium, it aims to attract up to 160 events a year as part of a broader entertainment precinct.Precinct Legislation: The Minns Government also amended the Sporting Venues Authorities Act to allow the development of visitor and residential accommodation on Venues NSW land. This paves the way for year-round activation of precincts around major venues like CommBank Stadium in Parramatta.”

Seems fair, who needs doctors when we can have more footballers!?!

Up the road from here - been promised a new hospital for years now, and one in Forster... with the huge population growth in this region, there is a need for more health facilities.  The population of Forster and southwards is roaring ahead... and with a lot of retirees.... I had to call an ambulance for chest pain and was told seventy minutes and that was two days out of triple bypass.  Turned out to be gas due to getting home and eating real food..
