Crippled brain lee: there were no "flaws" in public housing during the Keynesian welfare state era, 1946-1970s.

Why do you think China Japan and India can't get enough of our coal and gas?

They know cheap abundant fuel makes a society rich.

Bricks concrete transport wood carpet guttering tiles all have manufacturing costs.

Add in massive migration. Of migrants who work in construction at 1,/2 the rate of other Australians and you have expensive housing

The simple reality is that the cities are flooded - that's where the profits are and where the better living is supposed to be found. There is NO real avenue for expansion of the Greater Sydney Basin unless it is to the South West - as I've said many times - the Sydney-Canberra Corridor... the rest is bound by mountains. I've long observed the ludicrous over-expansion around Maitland etc - surrounded by swamps, and anyone working in Sydney would have to take two trains or run the M1 daily at huge cost and with its overcrowding anyway.

The Central Coast is bordered by mountains and is rapidly becoming out of reach for most anyway due to pressures of over-population, so the only real answers are to build mega-cities over the Mountains in the regions that are scorching hot in summer and freezing cold in Winter and beset by drought etc at nature's whim.

Tell me again why we need all those extra millions of people - not just workers - but entire families.

I say it's time for a new re-drawing of State lines into more regional states that reflect the views of those who live there - and let the cities drown in their own filth... without imposing on the other millions outside their brain-damaged perimeters.

Footnote:- What government in South Brumbyland would vote to murder the wild horses there? Only a rat-flick sitting on her fat arse in Sydney would think that a reasonable and even sane move.

Aerated Concrete is a much better option. Better thermal, noise properties. Hebel makes it on the east coat.. In WA it is generally cheaper to import. Nasahi, a division of Asahi, distributes into WA.

Pre-cast concrete with a tyre bale sandwich. Very good thermal properties, re-purposed old tyres, which makes them effectively free. The only downside I can see is that the sandwich is 900mm thick. OK for industrial, maybe not for homes, especially on small lots.
