Leroy, Frank, et al come to mind. Why does it bother them so much?

Multiple peer-reviewed studies suggest that men who display the strongest homophobic attitudes are significantly more likely to show measurable same-sex attraction — even when they verbally deny it.
A University of Rochester study analyzing four separate experiments found that self-identified straight men with high levels of homophobia showed strong attraction to the same sex in psychological tests , with lead researcher Netta Weinstein concluding they “may be threatened by gays and lesbians because homosexuals remind them of similar tendencies within themselves.”
A separate APA study got even more direct. Researchers measured physiological arousal in real time. Both homophobic and non-homophobic men showed arousal watching straight and lesbian porn — but only the homophobic men showed heightened arousal watching gay male content. The non-homophobic men did not.
