Speakers' blind eye to Trump & family corruption
Jun 22nd, 2026 at 1:02pm

It really is mind blowing what the Republicans are allowing Trump and his family to get away with in terms of blatant corruption. I hope that when the Dems take back the White House in 2029, they can go after the Trump's and also Republicans in Congress and in his cabinet who enabled this unprecedented corruption to take place.

House Speaker Mike Johnson offered a baffling defense Wednesday for Donald Trump’s blatant corruption schemes, seeming to forget entirely about so-called congressional oversight.

During a press conference, Johnson was asked whether he was at all concerned about the Trump family’s foreign business dealings, in light of the president’s trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar this week, where his family has made billions in investments, as well as Trump’s contentious plan to throw an “intimate dinner” for the top holders of his meme coin.

“Look, there are authorities that—police, executive branch, ethics rules—I’m not an expert in that. My expertise is in the House,” Johnson said.

“I’ll say that the reason many people refer to the Bidens as the ‘Biden crime family’ is because they were doing all this stuff behind curtains, but in the back rooms; they were trying to conceal it, and they repeatedly lied about it, and they set up shell companies, and the family was all engaged in getting all on the dole,” Johnson said. “Whatever the President Trump is doing is out in the open, they’re not trying to conceal anything.”

Setting aside the simple fact that in an expansive 300-page report released by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee last year, the GOP failed to produce a single piece of irrefutable evidence demonstrating that Joe Biden had participated in or benefited from foreign deals made by his family, it’s nearly impossible to parse why someone would believe that engaging in corruption out in the open is any better than doing it in secret.

Stop complaining, Armchair, they all do it.

The Biden crime family, if you recall, were investigated by Congress for over a year. They found Sleepy failed to declare a $12,000 loan repayment from his brother.

It's not the money, you understand, it's the principle. Corruption of this kind must be investigated. The GOP are committed to holding the prez to account, as you do. Remember, the buck stops with the prez.

He is literally falling over himself to not make Trump upset, lest he endorse someone else to run in his seat next election!

The Trump regime is full of cowards, but none are as spineless as Mike Johnson.

That's a bit unfair, Greggery. Mike's hands are tied because the big fella won't sign off on any new laws until Mike passes his electoral reform bill first.

Fair enough too. The big fella's sweeping changes would give the White House the right to override all state elections - a real "win-win", no?

So Mike's in the cushy position of saying sorry, leftards, no new laws or spending, thanks - unless DL needs any emergency funding passed, of course.

You know, a fancy new ballroom, a few bil for the mullahs, or some fabulous contracts for Eric and Don Jnr to get to work on.

The GOP's all good with it. The reps can just turn up to work and take it easy, no?

We'll win so much we'll grow tired of winning.
