So you’re telling me…….

“ No, the National Rugby League (NRL) is not a registered charity. While the NRL is not a registered charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), it operates as an income tax-exempt not-for-profit organization. Australian tax laws allow major professional sports codes (like the NRL and AFL) to self-assess for income tax exemptions if they are established to promote and encourage a sport and do not distribute profits to members. However, the NRL does have an official charitable arm called the NRL Foundation, which is a registered charity and operates as a public ancillary fund with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. If you are interested, I can explain:How the NRL Foundation differs from the main sporting league. The differences between not-for-profits and registered charities in Australia.Which specific NRL-related causes or social impact programs currently accept tax-deductible donations.Let me know what you would like to explore further.”

Even though they are doing billion dollars deals the NRL and AfL don’t have to pay tax any other business would have to?

I know Albo loves his football but with his latest budget cracking down on anyone trying to get ahead in life why do these gigantic sports avoid paying any tax at all?
