Indeed why not if there are enough people willing to pay $30 for bacon and eggs.

There aren't. But there are a lot of people who would take the work for less than $70 an hour, if they were allowed to. The unions won't let them have a job, and are celebrating their unemployment as some great achievement.

Penalty rates when I was at work were -

double time for overtime

time & a half for Saturday

and double time for Sunday & public holidays.

Most penalty rates have been negotiated down much lower than that now.

There were supposed to be other offsets & benefits
for workers getting a lower penalty rate.

Maybe the super aspect & holidays being applicable to permanent part time?

Most in hospitality only being time & half or for all scenarios.

If employers don't want to pay weekend & public holiday penalty rates then do the work yourself.

I can get bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatos, and toast made up three times over for $30. Not paying for that kind of rubbish at $30.

I have a frying pan at home here. One tomato, six eggs, 3 strips of bacon, mushrooms and hash browns would not cost $30. I would be doubtful that it would cost $15 -- the cost of a Big Mac meal.
