India is improving, just as Australia and England have improved.
My English great grand parents hailed from Stourpaine in Dorset.
I have visited the place and it is a most charming rural village, neat, clean and very welcoming.
The ancestors left there in 1856 and no wonder, for it made the pages of the Illustrated London  News
William and his wife, Jane  were my first English ancestors in Australia andthey came from Stourpaine in Dorset.  Stourpaine in its day was briefly famous having made it to the pages of the Illustrated London News of the 5th of September 1846, but for all the wrong reasons; "  Of one of the villages, Stourpain, about midway between Blandford and Sturminster Newton, the Times Correspondent gives this lamentable account:--
"The first feature which attracts the attention of a stranger on entering the village, is the total want of cleanliness which pervades it. A stream, composed of the matter which constantly escapes from pigsties and other receptacles of filth, meanders down each street, being here and there collected into standing Pools, which lie festering and rotting in the sun so as to create wonder that the place is not the continual abode of pestilence-indeed the worst malignant fevers have raged here at different times. It may be sufficient to add for the present that the inside of the cottages in every respect corresponds with the external appearance of the place. The wages here in very few instances exceed seven shillings per week.

"Another fruitful source of misery, as well as immorality, is the great in-adequacy of the number and size of the houses to the number of the population. and the consequently crowded state of their habitations, which in Dorsetshire generally, and in Stourpain particularly, afford the most limited accommodation.

"The want of proper ventilation in these houses must be to the last degree detrimental to the health of the inhabitants; the atmosphere, especially of the sleeping apartments. to an unpractised nose is almost insupportable. It is, perhaps, worthy of remark that dishes, plates, and other articles of crockery, seem almost unknown; there is, however, the less need for them, as grist bread forms the principal, and I believe only kind of food which falls to the labourer's lot. In no single instance did I observe meat of any kind during my progress through the parish. The furniture is such as may be expected from the description I have given of the place - rickety table and two or three foundered chairs generally forming the extent of the upholstery. Want, famine, and misery, are the features of the village, and yet I am credibly informed that the peasant of the Vale of Blackmore and the western parts of the country is as hungry, emaciated, and squalid a being as the denizen of Stourpain.

"From this picture of a Dorsetshire parish, it may be readily gathered that apathy and indifference on the part of the landed proprietor, and the grasping and closefisted policy of the farmer, are the causes of the prevailing distress. The default of the one is apparent in his neglect to provide proper habitations in which the labourer may bring up his family in comfort and decency. In no county, notwithstanding the universal increase of population, is the want of new cottages so apparent, and the neglect of the landlord, in this point at least, so conspicuous. The latter, in withholding from the man who serves him a just and reasonable reward for his services, is acting neither wisely nor honourably. Both seem to have forgotten, or at least to have shut their eyes to the undoubted fact, that one of the surest methods of consulting the public advantage, is to secure to the lower class comfort and competence."

Charming😇😇😇
              -                                                       Furthermore  it is also recorded that the workers in the fields were so poor that, in summer, they [both male and female] worked naked to save their miserable clothing and would run and hide if a stranger appeared on the road.

And so the English fixed those problems of 1846.

What are the Indians waiting for?

They are working on it.
One of their biggest problems is industrial pollution particularly from coal.

Of course if the holier than though exporters of the product were not so in love with money. India would not be able to buy so much.

How’s that sound?🎾

It has nothing to do with that at all.

It is all to do with the people & their cultural standings.

Silly.

You’re right, of course it’s silly, because being anti pollution and using the proceeds of fuelling the pollution is not only hypocritical but could certainly be considered silly, just as silly as buying steam powered submarines.

Even that's a silly response.

Then kindly explain how a nuclear engine works.
To date the best that designers can offer are common steam turbines, such engines, which are powered by steam have been around for over a hundred years, the only new thing is that the steam power is generated as a byproduct of the reactor.

Yee-ussh - but a nuclear sub has that clean water (not salt) condensed and recycled over and over... occasionally replenished by desalinatied water... yes - it's a steam engine but a closed circuit essentially.

I'm intrigued by the possibilities of next generation nuclear plants - much smaller and easier to control.

Yeah. But if we consider the improvement of Australia to India, India would be first world.

Idiot  Roll Eyes

If we compare the improvement made to Australia from 1788 to now, if India followed the rate of improvement that Britain did for Australia, India would be in a much better position. But, Indians being Indians decided to continue their third world position and remain third world.

Is that better? Do you understand now?

Caste system

India is the way it is because the caste system is still very strong, evan among second and third generation expatriot Indians.

Suttee (widow byrning) was only outlawed in 1987.

Indians dont like each other and lack civic sense, a coperative spirit.

Little bit misleading there, Frank.

‘’Legal Abolition and Modern Status

Colonial Ban: Lord William Bentinck, the British Governor-General of India, officially outlawed the practice in December 1829 via the Bengal Sati Regulation.

Continued Prohibitions: The practice remained illegal after India gained independence in 1947.

Strict Laws Today: India passed the Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act in 1987 after a high-profile case involving an 18-year-old widow named Roop Kanwar. This law makes committing or glorifying Sati illegal, carrying punishments up to the death’’

Yes it's silly.

Everyone knows a nuclear sub is powered by steam from the nuclear rods heating water.

It's an irrelevance as the source of the heat does not need to be replaced for the entire working life of the submarine ... i.e. 30 years.

Unlike conventional diesel-electric submarines, nuclear subs can stay submerged for 3 to 4 months. Diesel electrics can only stay submerged 3 or 4 days until batteries are depleted.

You're just being your usual pedantic self.

India ranks fourth in the World for military strength, Australia 17th.
A comparison for railways, power generation, water conservation also leaves us behind.

Sydney suburban rail sent a team to study Mumbai’s rail network.
Their suburban electric trains are normally 12 bogie coaches long and some services 16.
Inter city train’s normally 20 bogies, with all country stations long enough to accommodate.

While we have been building the inland rail link [as yet unfinished] India has built and commissioned freight only lines to alleviate the pressure on passenger services.

‘’Daily Train Breakdown
Total passenger trains: ~13,452 per day (including mail, express, passenger, and suburban services).
Express & Intercity services: Includes around 3,000+ dedicated long-distance and intercity express train operations.
Freight/Goods trains: ~9,141 to 9,212 trains per day.
Total daily network operations: ~22,593 total trains (freight and passenger combined).
Daily passenger volume:
Over 23 to 25 million passengers travel via Indian Railways daily.’’’

One of the most interesting freight operations are the trains carrying nothing but road trucks, which cuts road traffic and wear and tear on the trucks.

My Sri Lankan co-worker told me that Sri Lankans don't like each other, based on their backgrounds. One guy was a Tamil refugee. The other was Sinhalese. The Sinhalese guy had the racist attitude over the Tamil.

My experience over the years was that Protestants in Australia didn’t like Catholics, English didn’t like the Irish, and to a lesser extent vice versa, Presbyterians didn’t like CofE, job descriptions frequently carried ‘’Protestant Only’’.
From 1945 on immigrants were looked down on, ‘’Balts’’ became almost a dirty word and “Ten pound Pom’’ fared not much better.
On a personal level, I was promoted to a civilian position of Machine Shop Foreman within a Department of Defence military establishment and was asked, openly, how I got the position, being as I was a known Catholic.[my background however was Irish Catholic, Scots Presbyterian and English Established Church, so I was somewhat inured to religious and cultural upsets].
Thankfully times are changing/have changed.

Times are changing, alright. My two daughters are part-indigenous Australian. But they are so caucasian looking that they would not claim indigenous heritage. There is a likelihood that more full-blooded indigenous Australians would heckle them as "box tickers".
