However, if it's a choice between the US and Iran, I'd choose Iran every day of the week.

As per the cliché, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Better for all regional rivals to have nukes for that will stop any of them using them. Look at India and Pakistan. The two countries hate each other's guts and have fought four wars since the end of the British Raj yet have always refrained from using nukes, in recognition of the MAD doctrine.
