When in turbulence the worst place to be is at the bow of ship or somewhere high up.
That reminds me… went for a joy ride on a 3 mast vessel and the sea ended up turning tough!
I must locate the photos to put here, in the days of film camera.
I was with my back hard pressed against very back of vessel watching the front swaying wildly left and right … it was surreal! Captain on steering wheel was uttering “When things happen, they happen fast!”
It all took me by surprise! Was not expecting such an adventure! Wish I had a mobile phone to record it.
Been out in another big boat near Hervey Bay to go whale watching, and news from Captain was before boarding “It’s rough out there today, and I mean really rough. If anyone wishes to postpone until tomorrow, do so”
No one did, I had a dream night before he would say it was rough seas.
Anyway, it was very hard and bouncy and the wind was fierce, but I loved it! I stayed right up front! Thought it wild! Never saw any whales, but saw many people that’s were sea sick sitting at back of boat!

well…they were warned!
In meantime I will look for the photos of the vessel with masts.
