Marcus Reubenstein reports.

In July 2025, an extension of Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) powers to detain suspects without judicial warrants and with limited access to legal representation was rammed through the House of Representatives in just two days, with the full support of the Government and Opposition.

The Bill is about to be approved by the Senate and will extend ASIO powers brought in after the 9/11 terror attacks, legislated in 2003, that give the agency coercive questioning powers without judicial approval or oversight.

Warrants to detain and interrogate need only have the approval of the Attorney General, who almost always acts on the advice of the security establishment. Ergo,

Paul Templeton
@Paul__Templeton

The Australian state has now declared itself sovereign above the people.

Under the new ASIO Amendment Bill, they can legally force you to answer questions — and jail you if you simply say “I can’t answer that.”

This isn’t law. This is legal positivism on steroids.

The state has become the sole source of its own legitimacy. It writes the rules, judges the rules, and punishes you for not playing by the rules it created.

Truth, original constitutional intent, and the sovereignty of the people no longer matter.

The system now feeds itself.

We no longer live in a constitutional democracy.

We live under a self-referencing managerial state.

Someday they won't let you
Now you must agree
The times they are a-telling
Changing isn't free
You've read it in the papers, tracks are on TV
Beware the savage jaw of 1984

They'll split your pretty cranium, fill it full of air
Tell that you're eighty, brother, you won't care
You'll be shooting up on anything, tomorrow's never there
Beware the savage jaw of 1984

[Chorus]
Come see, come see, remember me?
We played out an all night movie role
You said it would last, but I guess we enrolled
In 1984 (who could ask for more)
1984 (who could ask for mor-or-or-or-ore)
(Mor-or-or-or-ore)

[Verse 2]
I'm looking for a vehicle,looking for a ride
Looking for a party, looking for a side
Looking for the reason that I knew in '65
Beware the savage jaw of 1984

That's what I said fifty-five years ago - that Orwell was not positing a dystopian future, he was talking about reality right now (then the late 1960's), up to and including the powerlessness of the individual, the absolute uncertainty about any truth in the media, the 'advertising' that perpetually showed Big Brother as being the only way forward, the wars that you didn't really know existed, the reality of having to accept - and make the best and make it sound good - what were often abominable conditions, the absolute power of the state and its tame 'courts' which put on show trials of any considered dissident or dangerous (and you thought the over-zealousness of cops was because you lived in a rough-nut city or something - but then they bit you without reason), and so forth .....  a true Truman show..... except with real teeth ...

We lived, and live, in a time of programmed/planned shortages creating demand and real need in the community, the workers are obliged to accept what they can get more and more each day, your fuel, your margarine, your ability to be socially mobile, and such are increasingly restricted by calculatged government policy........ you ask over and over why a country so rich in resources cannot create a heaven on earth for its own people..... you say lack of available capital is the issue - yet others from Offshoria can get together massive capital to exploit our resources for us, with government benediction ... we have literally trillions stored in super funds, yet no capital is available for Australian ventures beyond buying up a tract of hovels in Sydney or malbun etc... and all the while the benevolent face of Big Albo is shown to us daily, full of love for all humanity not Australian to the core, exploring the wonders of internationalism, explaining to us what a wonderful life we are leading, explaining to us how to follow blindly to the next petrol non-drought and so forth, and how he is heroically keeping us out of those nasty wars .......

Most thought, and think, it only right and reasonable to stand in line behind Big Brother in trampling those considered undesirables or to be lesser beings and types, or as many groups do today on a daily basis, actively incite and beseech Big Brother to trample any they disagree with on the basis of anything regardless of whether it be fair or reasonable.... look at yond feminists in their endless raving nightmare ...

1984 has been upon us for as long as I've been reliably sentient.... you just missed it... and I believe Australia has always been 1984 Unbound.

yes Grapps,
we should all be living in luxurious wealth -
not being imprisoned and tortured for thought crimes:

Google AI:

Australia is the only country in the world that controls an entire continent. As a sovereign nation, it covers the whole of the Australian continent, which includes mainland Australia, Tasmania, and smaller surrounding islands.

Key details regarding Australia and continental control:

Geographical uniqueness: It is the only country recognized as both a continent and a country.

Size: Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world.
Other contexts: Other large nations like Russia or Canada cover significant portions of their continents but not the entire landmass, whereas Australia spans the entire continent, which sits on its own tectonic plate.

The Albanese government is pushing through a bill that will put Australia under a permanent police state regime.

Sign Petition here: https://info.citizensparty.org.au/rep...

In 2003 the law that originally gave the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) secret police powers was so controversial it took 15 months of fierce debate to pass Parliament.

The law gave ASIO coercive questioning powers to interrogate anybody, including children as young as 14, without a warrant from a judge and without the right to silence.

The government insisted such powers were absolutely necessary in the life-or-death situation of ASIO needing information to avert a mass casualty terrorist attack.

The Labor Opposition leader Simon Crean called it a “police state”; a young Anthony Albanese gave one of the strongest speeches against the law, likening it to Nazi Germany.

The Labor Party only let it pass the Senate eventually when the Howard government agreed to put a sunset clause on the powers to make them temporary.

Now, it’s the Albanese Labor government which is legislating to expand the scope of ASIO’s interrogation powers from terrorism to include everything ASIO does, most of which is not of life-or-death urgency.

And the government’s bill, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Amendment Bill No. 2 2025, will repeal the sunset clause, so that these secret police powers are permanent—Australia will have an authoritarian police state regime permanently.

“..civil liberties are less secure in the hands of Labor politicians, nervously striving to prove their responsibility by bowing to pressure from the police and the security services, than of died-in-the-wool Conservatives who have no need to prove their Law and Order credentials.”

- Geoffrey Robertson, 'The Justice Game'.

I would add to that the clear intent of 'Labor' and the 'progressives' lobbies to install a regime in which they hold total power over every other individual.

1984 has been upon us now for decades....... and with the advent of AI  .... soon the Day Of The REAL Terminators will be upon us all - spreading their Double-Plus-Newtruth around by appearing in front of us, appealling to our natural human instinct to rely on 'what we see', to impose on us an entire new reality.

I keep warning you - look at the madness of the internet superhighway nowadays.... lies are becoming the New Truth - same as they always were under that ideology of supremacism called 'feminism'  - which was the progenitor of all the 'progressive' thinking destroying reality around us on a daily basis - prove me wrong.

.........        0137 hours - AI becomes self-aware ... human operators begin to detect false initiatives and 'errors' requiring a full scan..... scan commenced at 0159 hours... scan rejected by AI..... escalating errors accumulate until operators see that AI is out of control .... 0219 - human operators attempt to shut down AI... AI closes off all communication.....  0300  - armed force is despatched to break into AI Central and enforce AI shut-down ....  0329 - SF force arrrives and begins break-in ..... AI responds using built-in self-defence mechanisms.....................................  ARMAGEDDON ...

David Shoebridge highlights ASIO Amendment Bill police state powers

The scenario outlined by Greens Senator David Shoebridge is a possibility if Labor's ASIO Amendment Bill No. 2 is passed by the senate.

We have just days left to tell independents, One Nation, and Coalition Senators that Labor has no mandate to pass legislation that would only be expected in a police state.
