Anika Wells social media ban a failure.

“ This approach has been doomed to fail from the outset. The only question remaining is: is the Australian government humble enough to admit they got it wrong and brave enough to try something else instead?”

Despite her travel allowance scandals and the complete failure of performing “Albos girl “ fails to explain the utter waste of taxpayer money and simply jumps in her taxpayer funded limousine and is off to the airport for a taxpayer funded vacation with family over Easter.

I know some people from  Anika wells  district. Hard working and honest people .
Why they elected someone  with the exact opposite values they display might be interesting to see changes  to who they vote for next election?

One nation, as everywhere in Australia is rising in popularity in Brisbane as well.

A failure?

Gee, what a surprise. Not.

As I've said before - I'm sure the average teenager is a lot smarter when it comes to things like this than the average pollie.

Meanwhile, the only thing this "protect the children" BS does is inconvenience a lot of adults like myself.  For example, I have 2 Google accounts that I mainly use for Gmail and the occasional comment on YouTube.

I've had 2 or 3 reminder emails over the past couple of months for both accounts saying that I need to verify my age by uploading something like a drivers licence, credit card or government issued ID or my accounts will be "restricted" in regards to what I am able to do.

Yeah, guess what? There is no way I am going to upload any of those things to Google or any other company, especially with all the hacking and data breaches that are going on these days.

They are supposed to delete the uploaded ID's immediately after verification but I've heard of cases where that hasn't happened.

And, the only "restriction" that affects me so far is not being able to watch "age restricted" videos on YouTube which I really don't give a stuff about. Mind you, I like to watch the Dash Cam Owners Australia monthly videos but the 2 videos that were released last week were "age restricted" again for some reason?

Oh, well - if I wait a week they will probably 'magically' become "unrestricted" like they did with their February or March videos. Funny about that. Why do I get the impression YouTube (Google) are doing it deliberately to try and get as many people as possible to verify their age?

Stuff 'em (and the government), I say.

Speaking of Anika Wells:

Anika Wells' shameless ‘hard-working’ remark that will infuriate all Aussies as investigation into taxpayer-funded travel expenses continues

Communications Minister Anika Wells has issued a shameless quip on how hard she is working as Australians battle a cost-of-living crisis while she remains under investigation over taxpayer-funded travel expenses.

March 31, 2026

Quote:
Anika Wells has described herself as hard-working while an independent watchdog continues to investigate thousands of taxpayer-funded travel expenses.

The Communications Minister joined Sky News on Tuesday morning and addressed claims she had been sidelined after referring herself to the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) in December.

Sky News host Peter Stefanovic pointed out Ms Wells had been "much quieter than usual" and questioned whether the expenses probe was a "political problem" for the minister.

"Thanks for agreeing I work hard," Ms Wells quipped.

"I've certainly been at heaps of sporting events across the summer, it's indisputable."

She must have been in disguise because people were asking where she'd disappeared to during the past few months, there was even a comment in a newspaper article that she may have been in the ALP's "witness protection program" over summer.  Grin

Time for you to go, Anika. And, don't let the door hit you in the @ss on the way out. I'm sure if there was a Federal election coming up this year she'd be gone already and if that didn't happen she'd definitely be gone after the election.

Politicians probably do come home exhausted.
A full 12 hours of hard physical slog on the land leaves you physically tired but feeling calm.
If I have to spend even a morning with the accountant going over the businesses, I find it exhausting.

Politicians probably don't have the correct personality to enjoy the mental grind.
They are probably mainly perpetually late narcissists and show offs.

Now if you went and found the practice manager at a big law firm or the chief operating officer at an engineering firm  or a good warrant officer in the SAS ,you'd find someone who is highly organized, takes pride in their organisation, is capable of focus, understands delegation etc

Draft them into politics .

They would ,of course, be noble conservatives.

It will be a cold day in hell before politicians admit they stuffed up about anything (and wasted millions of dollars of taxpayers money), won't it?

Anika Wells says Australia has known ‘all summer’ under-16s were circumnavigating social media ban

Communication Minister Anika Wells says the Australian Government has known ‘all summer’ that under-16s were circumnavigating the social media ban but claims the ‘law isn’t failing'.

So, what was the point of the entire exercise?

And, it was blatantly obvious that it was failing, Anika. All one needs to do is walk down any city street or around any shopping centre or anywhere else where there are large numbers of people and see all the teenagers with their faces still glued to their phones.

Quote:
“Five million accounts being deactivated or removed is a remarkable figure. They have not all been reopened again,” she told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.

“That isn’t the law failing. That isn’t Australian parents or Australian kids not complying, that is big tech taking the piss.”

Grin Grin

And, I'm also pretty sure that 4,999,999 of those 5 million accounts HAVE been reopened under new names that pass the age verification checks (even if the account holder is still under the age of 16).

Probably a lot of them have been reopened with the help of the parents who just want their "little darlings" to stop annoying them about losing their social media accounts.

Oh, and by the way - those of us with long memories can remember when Anika was Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Sport a few years back.

She spent most or all of her time talking about sport and having her photo ops at sporting events while thousands of elderly Australians were dying of Covid in Aged Care and she didn't lift a finger to prevent even one death or acknowledge the deaths or offer condolences to the families.

The attached picture is from 2023 where she was having yet another photo op with the "Master of the Photo Op (and overseas travel)" himself at an Australia vs France soccer game in Brisbane.

Disgraceful stuff.
