Netanyahu is always on the road for elections, and that’s exactly how, domestically, his statement [on new, unnamed international partnerships forming] was viewed.
This is a line that the Israeli prime minister has used time and again, especially during times of crisis, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of intrigue, perhaps for his base… [But] even the countries with which Israel has a peace agreement, like Jordan; very recently, we heard from the king of Jordan, from his office, that he refused a request to meet with the Israeli prime minister because of Israeli policies and practices, because of the outcome of the war and what is happening and the price that everybody’s paying, but also because of Israeli policies towards the Palestinians and the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
This was an election speech, a chance before the Passover holiday for Netanyahu to talk to his base, to talk about achievements, how hard Israel has pushed and pounded Iran.
But, as the head of the opposition said, the only word that was missing was “almost”, because all of those achievements are not yet done, even by the admission of Netanyahu.
