70%+ of goverment is carried on by bureaucrats .

Could be, but the MPs are accountable in responsible government.

Bureaucrats aren't and the Minister is to sort them out. In Westminster, pollies are stood down for misleading Plmt even if it's a public servant tricking them up. This is gone in Oz so pollies are slack. Nevertheless, legally they hold the can.

Well - that precludes any responsibility here in Oz.

Here we have government not only unresponsive to its constituents, but also unresponsive to its responsibilities as written down.

Look at it this way, son... remember the story of George Washington and his father's cherry tree that George cut down?  Now in that situation George would say - "I cannot tell a lie, dad - I cut that cherry tree down!"

Now in politics here and today George (Albo) would say - "I cannot tell a lie, dad!  That cherry tree committed suicide by axe!"

Relate that to our current fuel 'crisis' -and the endless lies about it, all dedicated to keeping the peasants off balance and ripe for the plucking by their overlords...

Albo needs to tell us why he should remain as our leader?

He just gets the Media like the ABC grifters to do it for him.

I've met a few politicians.

Palashuzh, Steven miles, Jim chalmers  Craig Emerson.

They are pretty unimpressive.

Anastasia was at the races with her slimey  gastric stapling  boyfriend who lives in a 20 million dollar house and is constantly facing malpractice law suits.

I was in a room with Jeanette young... a shocking communicator.

Once you have met some of leaders. You will realise how ordinary they are.
They really can't solve anything.

Some of my farming neighbours can solve problems at a very high level.

But not politicians.

What about the top public servants.

If you work for the tax office or the department of infrastructure or technology, you might be on 500,000 at the very top.

That's chickenfeed.

I know farriers and excavator operators who make that.

If you are good, the private sector will poach you so only the lower calibre people remain.

Understanding this, I think it's just sensible to take personal responsibility.

The people you rely on to keep you " safe and comfortable " are not able to do so.
They aren't smart enough and the real power resides with the top tech bros and bankers who treat you like an insignificant ant.

They aren't out to hurt you deliberately, but they could not care less about your life.

"Personal responsibility" again.

In Australia? You've got to be kidding.  Grin

As I've said many times - the only "personal responsibility" practised by the majority of the population is the "I'm alright and stuff everyone else" sort.

Like we saw with toilet paper 6 years ago and now with petrol and (coming soon) groceries, etc.

Better stock up now while you still can (but don't panic buy).  Roll Eyes

And even when the baddies are named as in Robodebt, it's just too much fuss to hold anyone to account. She'll be right.
