ABC News.

Two teenagers have died after a motorcycle and e-bike collided in Greenbank, south of Brisbane, last night.   Sad

In short:
A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy have died after a motorcycle collided with the e-bike they were riding in Greenbank, south of Brisbane, on Thursday night.

The 52-year-old male motorcycle rider was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

What's next?
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said the government would respond to a report into the safety of e-mobility devices, released last week, "sooner rather than later".

Two teenagers have died and a man is seriously injured following a crash in Logan, south of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Middle Road near Carlton Road in Greenbank about 9pm last night.

Police said initial investigations suggested a Harley Davidson motorcycle was overtaking a car when it collided with an e-bike travelling with two riders in the opposite direction.

Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said the e-bike did not have headlights on at the time of the crash.   Sad

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Cars driving along a road
Police say initial investigations suggest the motorcycle was overtaking a car when it collided with the e-bike.

Superintendent Wheeler said investigators would be looking into possibilities of dangerous driving, speeding, fatigue, distraction, proper safety equipment on all three riders, and whether both vehicles were compliant.

"Wearing a helmet on an e-bike or a motorbike is required in Queensland," he said

"We're certainly looking at that aspect as well."

Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said forensic investigators were looking into the crash.

He extended condolences to the families of the teenagers.

"The two lives lost last night hit particularly hard for everybody,"  he said.
"To see those young lives ended the way they ended is tragic."

Anyone with dash cam or any other relevant video from the area has been urged to contact police.

Resident  not surprised by crash
Clay Barnes lives on Middle Road, opposite where the crash occurred.

Middle Road resident Clay Barnes says the road needs upgrades and enforcement.

He said he was "really saddened" by what had happened, but not surprised.

"The traffic on Middle Road is just horrendous," he said.

"They're building new estates everywhere further down, and they haven't upgraded the road in years and years.

"People are generally short tempered and make silly decisions."

Mr Barnes urged the state government to upgrade the road, including with the addition of traffic lights.

"And enforce the speed limit here ... crazy stuff happens here all the time."

"It's a disaster waiting to happen, and sadly last night, it happened."
Government considering e-mobility report
As police worked to establish the circumstances of the Logan crash, Deputy premier Jarrod Bleijie said there had been "too many" deaths related to e-bikes in recent years.

"A family are going through grief today with the loss of life and it's just tragic circumstances," he said.   Sad

A report into the safety of e-mobility devices such as e-bikes and e-scooters was handed down last week and recommended new restrictions in Queensland.

The recommendations include that riders should be required to hold a learner's licence, must be over 16 years old, and that devices not limited to 25 kilometres per hour be defined as a motorcycle.

Mr Bleijie said the government was still considering the recommendations and would implement a response "sooner rather than later".

"We're now considering that, but we will be taking tough action to try and prevent loss of life on e-scooters and e-mobility devices," he said.

So far this year three lives have been lost on e-devices in Queensland, Superintendent Wheeler said.   Sad
