Got a link to that one?

yes.

"AI Overview
South Australia achieved a milestone of having wind and solar meet 73.3% of its local electricity demand for the month of September 2020"

It links to renew economy -

"South Australia wind and solar served stunning 73% of demand in September"

https://reneweconomy.com.au/south-australia-wind-and-solar-served-stunning-73-of...

it doesn't appear to have happened since. So a one time "record". Wink

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Energy Minister Chris Bowen and several other Labor MPs all accused Mr Canavan of being a climate change denialist.

However, the Queensland Senator told Sky News Sunday Agenda that his views had been misrepresented.

“Yes, there is an impact on the climate from higher amounts of carbon dioxide,” Mr Canavan said.  “My question here has also always been how significant that is and what we should do about it.”

“Clearly anything that should be done about it has to be done at a global level. There's no point in Australia just taking action alone,” he said.

Mr Canavan was a large part of the push for the Coalition to scrap net zero, leading the push to dump net zero 2050 emissions targets.

Under the new policy, the Coalition will hope to reduce emissions "year on year" on average for every five-year period, as laid out in the Paris Agreement.

Reductions in emissions will be pursued "as fast and as far as technology allows" but only if they do not add extra costs on energy users.

The Coalition will also establish a "technology-neutral" energy approach, which will ensure no premature closure of coal plants and an increase in gas supply.

“The government is just doubling down on failure by continuing a renewable energy only approach, which is not working and we're not even going to achieve,” Mr Canavan said.

“We're saying, look, let's scrap all this net zero rubbish, let’s run our energy system with the primary goal in mind of delivering the lowest possible energy prices for Australians.  “That will lower their cost of living, that will improve living standards, improve productivity, and most importantly improve real wages.  It will get people, get more bang for their buck. For every hour they have to toil and sweat to provide for their families.”

BTW - SA's 100% renewables plan centred on Hydrogen. No hydrogen plants at scale have occurred.

"In recent days, some of the government's senior MPs have been publicly deflating the hydrogen balloon, softening their statements about the Whyalla proposal in possible anticipation of its demise."

You tell me how a dam full of water stores solar & wind generated electricity like a battery?

Exactly. If it's pumped Hydro it works exactly the same way as a battery. If it's just conventional hydro it is better than a battery, because it does not need to be charged.

Do you really not understand how it works?

I know you don't.

All it is is another dam of stored water - which gets dropped down the hill to generate power into the grid.

It uses off peak power mostly off the grid to pump water back up.

It is not battery of any description that a sane person would believe.

It stores nothing but water - absolutely zero electricity until the valves are opened & water runs down the hill to the turbines. Then it generates electricity for the grid.

You know that rechargeable AAA batteries don't store "electricity" either, right? Or did you not go to school?

They store chemical energy. Pumped hydro stores potential/mechanical energy.

In terms of grid operation, pumped hydro and lithium battery banks are exactly the same. They just have slightly different cost profiles. That's why google AI gives you results like this: Pumped hydro is considered a form of mechanical, long-duration "water battery". Perfectly sane.

Yeah they do - whilst they are receiving charge they store that until fully charged.

Whether a hydro damn is half full or half empty - it will only produce energy when the gate valves are opened & the water force spins the turbines.

When that power is no longer required then power from the grid has to pump water back up to the top dam. That's what makes it expensive.

What do you call hydro dams that have no 2nd dam to pump water up to?

You know like the ones in TASMANIA where you think they are a net power exporter - but have been a net power from the national grid importer for the last 7 years?

Funny how your own mother nature plays havoc with your renewables reliable supply bullshyte.

No good?

The old boy's taken to berating himself.

Good show.

Says the butt sniffer who hasnt said anything credible for half a century.

Butt sniffing and mincing while grimacing are not credible even as vaudeville.

I think we're done here, dear boy, don't you?

When Lee gets into the audit papers and you go all butt-sniffing on us, I feel it's time.

Last drinks, boys.

Feeling jaded? Your renewables BS found wanting?

All piss & wind like a drunken butt pluggers party?

Your superior knowledge of everything - like most egotistical leftoids here has been found wanting.

Have you rushed off to light up a boy?

A simple yes or no will suffice.  Wink

Gonads, your lack of any form of critique is noted. You're not even remotely curious.

Light up a boy? The old dear's already blown his fuse. We were just about to cash in too.

The game's rigged, as every schoolboy knows.

You seem more confused then a greens voter in an inner city apartment when the lights go out and the apex gang are beating down the door to get at your lentil supply

Energy security is economic security.

Thanks to the big fella  Smiley

Oh? Right in the middle of an oil crisis, you want to get us back on the fossil fuels, eh?

All thanks to the "noble Don".

Thanks, Donnie, for a job well done. You've made Aquascoot unplug his solar panels and lecture us all on the merits of Big Coal.

You've got him completely ploughed, irritated, fertilized and farmed.

How does it feeeeel?

Perhaps that wasn't the correct colloquial expression.

Consider yourself lit, Gonads. The next one to take you on's gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars, no?

So that's Gonads done. Who's left?

Maybe Lee's been scouring the South Australian Energy Plan for typos.

Maybe our equine friend bounced out of bed with a plan for austerity-driven East Coast power cuts.

Or maybe the old boy's got another mendaciousss left in him.

It may not happen overnight, but it will happen, no?
