It could take six months to fully clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines deployed by the Iranian military, and any such operation is unlikely to be carried out until the U.S. war with Iran ends, the Pentagon has informed Congress — an assessment that means the conflict’s economic impact could extend late into this year or beyond.

How did they do that? Oh, I know. They don't have any infrastructure to drill, excavate, explore - all of which cost money. That cost is tax deductible. The Australia Institute - another lefty organisation that can make money from anything, apparently. Or merely mke it up. Roll Eyes

Petrol prices went below $2/L yesterday. I did not know that until I read online social media.

Having just looked at the petrol prices for today, the price has dropped another 10c/L.

I along with most people had no idea we were so vulnerable to
overseas trade and supply in oil.

Our Govts. from both sides of politics let us down in a terrible way.
I want to see all those responsible on trial for criminal negligence:
public servants and consultants who failed to warn politicians -
unless they did warn them and the Pollys ignored it?

Both sides of politics are right behind AUKUS -
wasting $360 billion to get 8 lousy subs in 15 to 20 years
yet there was no money for oil refineries or searching for more oil and gas -
which is where our real national security is to be found.

Even a proper tax on our gas exports could have paid for
more refineries and oil searching - drilling exploration holes free of charge.

Honestly - the politicians we have couldn't organise a chook raffle in a pub -
they are that hopeless -
they just hold their hands out for big salaries for doing nothing.
They don't care about us at all.

Further to that - it is reported in today's West that the PRRT collection has jumped by $11 billion. Something seems to be screwy with the $7 billion over 5 years figure.

For unleaded 91 @ $1.94 per litre.

Diesel is still 76c per litre dearer averaging $2.70 per litre.

Japanese Government collects more tax from Australian gas
than Australian Government

April 21, 2026              by Richard Denniss

“It’s hard to believe how badly Australians have been ripped off by gas export companies,” said Dr Richard Denniss, co-CEO of the Australia Institute.

“Japan, a country with no gas, oil or coal reserves of its own collected almost $40 billion over the last five years while the Australian PRRT provided only $7 billion to Australians.

“Not only has Australia been literally giving more than half of the gas we export away for free, we now learn that the same Japanese Government that is opposed to us putting a tax on our gas and coal exports, has been raking in billions of dollars per year via their own tax on gas and coal imports.

“The Australian Government recently cut our petrol excise to help Australians in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis. If the Japanese are so worried about the cost of Australian gas and coal, they should scrap the taxes they are imposing on it.

Wasn’t this terrible deal done by the LNP with Angus involved in its design?

Just how badly have our politicians sold the people of Australia out?

After weeks of poor press regarding Albo ( and Scomo) poor management of fuel reserves and desperate for a major distraction.
Federal Police arrest Ben ( war criminal) Smith.
What Amazing timing?

Blooby, Kangaroo Land is more susceptible to invasion from China than lack of oil due to your laziness to form a proper military defense. America is not going to save you. For too long you have been riding on the coattails of Yankee military imperialism and getting free health care on my taxpayer dime by proxy.

That has to end.

How the hell could we defend ourselves against China?
They have the largest navy in the world.
We're only a minnow in a sea of sharks.

They will soon kick Yanky butt out of the South China sea when they take Taiwan.

Here you go, Blooby. Watch and actually learn something that you don't steal from Gab or X. Thanks to your undying love for Trump, it's only going to get a lot worse for all of us:
