I think the cost of petrol is nearly all tax:

You have the 52 cents fuel excise plus the GST -

but wait - the petrol station has to pay:
land taxes, payroll taxes, taxes on profits, income taxes and super for all their employees.

The petrol tanker driver + company delivering the petrol has to pay road taxes and
taxes on profits, income taxes and super for all their employees.

The petrol companies have to pay taxes on their profits and all sorts of other taxes,
payroll taxes and super for all their employees.

I heard that every company pays about 20 different taxes just to operate their business.
They even have to employ accountants and lawyers to get on top of their tax obligations -
more expense.

Petrol is one gigantic tax grab.

Singapore has already factored in the Governments .26c drop in fuel tax - so in 7 days time - it all goes to Singapore.

This is being manufactured and the hard times have not come yet - you have a small window to prepare yourselves.

81 ships of crude oil were promised and just 8 are coming

Bowen promised 81 then he revised it down to 55. The problem is ONLY EIGHT TANKERS CARRYING CRUDE OIL are going to arrive in Australia in the next two weeks:

We are never short when it comes to examples of Albo saying one thing, and doing the absolute opposite
If Albo followed through on his 2022 budget reply promises, Australia would be in a significantly better position than we are at the moment
Like he said, this guy and his party of Australia hating traitors have had 4 years to prepare for times exactly like this. To bolster our supplies, be more self reliant with an accessible on shore fuel reserve
This guy speaks nothing but spin and lies and is a major part of the reason we are where we are right now
Totally useless in every respect of managing this country...

All those heavy costs are passed on to the consumer.
It makes you wonder if 95% of the price of petrol is actually taxes
and charges?

What about one example - insurance?
The consumer driver, petrol station the delivery tanker and the oil company have to pay insurance -

- stamp duty on insurance!

Australian insurance premiums (general insurance) generally attract a
GST and state-based stamp duty ranging from 2.5% to 10%, often applied on top of the GST-inclusive premium. Stamp duty is mandatory, with rates varying by state and policy type, while GST applies to the base premium and broker fees, but not to the stamp duty component itself.

We have taxes on top of taxes on top of more taxes.

How has the price if diesel affected your travel plans?

Since retirement, we have been going away regularly ( over 100 days away last year)
We had planned a couple of trips this year, more than last, but....

I plan our trips based on accom costs and fuel.
We are now self funded retirees, so money is tighter than when I was working.
The April trip was costed at around $600 to $700 in fuel alone.
This is now nearly double that or more $1200 to $1400 because of the fuel costs.
Accom is reasonably stable, but is now less than a quarter of the cost of the fuel.

How is it that accom is half the cost of getting there?
I get reasonable milage with the van attached 15 to 17 litres per 100 KLM.

We looked at just driving there and staying at motels instead, but motels are getting ridiculous and any savings in fuel are eaten up in accom.
This is really stuffing up our retirement.

In an energy rich country like Australia our fuel should be free… but we have been sold out…

1: LPG is still around $1 - could you do a conversion?

2: if you are self funded retirees you are not limited to earning extra income..

Why not get a casual job?

Why not do the lollipop at a school crossing 🚸?

$40 an hour @ 4 hrs a day - 2 hours in the morning 2 hours in the afternoon $160 a day - $800 a week..

40 weeks of the year = $32,000 a year…

This gives you 12 weeks a year for holidays

It also gives you the middle of every week day to do whatever you want to do…

It gets you out of bed each school day and keeps you off the piss until after 4.30pm… lol

All you need is a working with children card…
